Best Crew for Gorn

The best crew to defeat the Gorn hostiles in STFC consists of Kathryn Janeway, Nurse Chapel, Enterprise-E Data and Enterprise-E Piccard.

Although it is tempting to use any crew to vanquish enemies in Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC), this is not recommended. This is because some crew combinations will perform better against specific hostiles than others.

Update 65 introduced the Gorn opponents and they are unlike any other hostile in the game.

These enemies are immune to all non-Isolytic sources of damage, which means that you can only use officers that deal huge amounts of Isolytic damage to vanquish them from the galaxy.

Since the Gorn’s introduction to STFC, several players have questioned which crew combination is considered the best to conquer them. Unfortunately, there are only 4 officers who can increase the amount of Isolytic Damage that you deal.

We therefore recommend that you create a crew that consists of Kathryn Janeway, Nurse Chapel, Enterprise-E Data and Enterprise-E Piccard. All 4 of these offices have abilities that will deal Isolytic Damage to the Gorn foes.

Once you have selected your crew, you have to assign them to a ship in your fleet before you can attack the Gorn. In theory, you can select any ship to attack the Gorn, however, we recommend that you do not use an Explorer-type vessel.

This is because the Gorn enemies’ ability increases the amount of damage they deal by a specific amount when they are fighting Explorer-type vessels. Commanders should therefore either choose an Interceptor, a Battleship or a Survey Ship.

While choosing the ship that you want to use against the Gorn, we recommend that you consider the vessel’s strength. Commanders should select the strongest ship in their fleet to destroy the Gorn.

Officer abilities

Before you attack the Gorn, we recommend that you consider all 4 officers’ abilities to understand how they function:

Officer Ability
Kathryn Janeway Bend the Rules: At the start of a battle, she increases your Isolytic Cascade damage by 10% against non-Player hostile and Armada.
Nurse Chapel Protocol 12: At the start of combat, Nurse Chapel increases Isolytic Cascade damage by 5% vs non-Armada Hostiles.
Enterprise-E Data Saddle up. Lock and Load: This ability increases Isolytic Cascade Damage by 10% versus non-Armada Hostiles.
Enterprise-E Picard We used to be Explorers: Increases Isolytic Cascade Damage by 3% for 3 rounds every time you land an attack on a non-Armada Hostile.

Nurse Chapel

As seen in the table, players can use Nurse Chapel to defeat the Gorn hostiles. Unfortunately, players have to purchase a pack with real money to add her to their fleet,  but it is not necessary to purchase her to advance in the game.

Commanders are able to destroy the Gorn by using Kathryn, Enterprise-E Picard as well as Enterprise-E Data.

That being said, Nurse Chapel might be a bit stronger than the free-to-play Officers and thus, we suggest that you upgrade your officers on a regular basis.

Where to find the Gorn

Players should remember that the Gorn hostiles’ level determines the system in which they spawn. However, their exact spawn location in the system is unknown, which means that you will have to search the area until you find a Gorn enemy.

Why should you vanquish the Gorn?

Several players are cautious about attacking the Gorn since they are so powerful. We recommend that you defeat the Gorn as you will earn valuable rewards for doing so, one of which is Volatile Isomatter.

It can therefore be said that the Gorn is part of the Isolytic Loop, and players can exchange their Volatile Isomatter for a variety of items in the Isolytic Refinery.

You can accumulate Officer Shards, Artifact Pieces and Grade Upgrade Materials in the exchange shop. Keep in mind, however, that some items will require more Volatile Isomatter than others.

You can therefore save your Volatile Isomatter until you have enough to purchase a high-value item, or you can use the resource to purchase less valuable items.
