To unlock the Warfarer Vocation in DD2, players have to complete The Sotted Sage quest in the Volcanic Island Camp.
Since the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, players have questioned how to unlock the Warfarer Vocation.
Allegedly, this Vocation is one of the most powerful classes for your Arisen in the game, as it gives you access to nearly every weapon and skill for all other Vocations.

It is worth noting that you will only be able to access the Warfarer Vocation once you have progressed significantly in the game.
We therefore recommend that early-game players simply focus on completing the main story until they are able to unlock the Warfarer Vocation.
Players can obtain this Vocation by completing The Sotted Sage quest in the Volcanic Island Camp. If you complete the Put a Spring in Thy Step quest to obtain the Magick Archer Vocation, you will be in the vicinity of this quest.
You simply have to head up the wooden ramps and climb a ladder to speak to Lamond. He will give you the quest to obtain the Warfarer Vocation, regardless of your dialogue choice.
To complete this quest, you have to give him 3 Newt Liqueur and if you speak to him again, he will grant you access to the Warfarer Vocation.
Players can speak to Lamond again to get the Grandmaster’s Path, which is the Maister’s Teaching for the Warfarer Vocation.
How to obtain Newt Liqueur
Players have to give Lamond 3 Newt Liqueur to obtain the Warfarer Vocation. The table below lists the methods that you can use to procure the resource:
Method | Description |
Crafting | Players can craft Newt Liqueur by combining Saurian Tail and Fruit Wine. Although you can easily farm Saurian Tails, Fruit Wine is more difficult to come by. You have to complete Feasts of Deception, Welcome to Battahl and A Noble Exchange. |
Steeling | You can loot a Newt Liqueur inside Gautstafr’s house while completing the Put a Spring in Thy Step ques, which. can be found on top of the table near the door. |
Purchasing at the tavern | For this method, you have to enter a secret tavern which allows you to purchase Newt Liqueurs for 5000 Gold each. |
Warfarer’s Weapon Skill
As previously mentioned, the Warfarer grants DD2 players a lot of versatility and adaptability in different combat scenarios.
You can therefore change weapons to adjust to a situation, which makes this the ideal Vocation for players who are interested in experimenting with different weapons.
Even though it has a variety of weapons available, it only has 1 weapon skill, known as Rearmament. This skill allows you to switch weapons that belong to other Vocations.
If you do not intend to use this skill, we recommend that you do not obtain the Warfarer.
Recommended Augments
Although you can use any Augments for the Warfarer, this is not recommended, as some Augments are considered better at enhancing the Vocation’s capabilities than others. The recommended Augments are:
Augment | Description |
Endurance | Increases your stamina. |
Sustainment | Augments the physical Defense and Magick Defense of Pawns in your party. |
Zeal | It reduces the Stamina consumed when you are performing a weapon skill. |
Sagacity | Augments your Magick. |
Exaltation | It augments your Stamina recovery speed. |
Verve | This augments your Strength. |
It is recommended that you adjust your augment pool according to the main weapon that you want to use. If your character is a Fighter or a Warrior, we recommend that you try to use the Augments of both cases.
But if your Warfarer is more of a Caster, we recommend that you use the Augments for Sorcerers. The Augments that you use should therefore by determined by your main weapon.
Party recommendations
As a Warfarer you need to use specific Pawns to ensure that you are successful in your battles. The best composition is a Mage for your main pawn and a front-line Fighter Pawn to get the attention of enemies.
The Mage will also be able to heal your character when you are low on health, and you can hire a Fighter Pawn to take all the damage for you.
Your main task is to be as flexible as possible so that you are able to support and deal damage when necessary. In any case, the Pawn loadouts will ensure that your party is well balanced and ready for any fight.
