To summon Duriel in Diablo 4, players have to procure 2 Mucus-Slick Eggs and 2 Shards of Agony, which they can do by defeating other bosses.
In Diablo 4, the endless battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells rages on as chaos threatens to consume Sanctuary.
This game features countless abilities for gamers to master, nightmarish dungeons to explore and ceaseless demons to slaughter.
Duriel Summoning Ritual
As you advance in the game, you will have to fight a variety of enemies, each with unique skills and strategies that you have to survive.
However, there are some bosses in the game that can only be vanquished when you have reached the endgame, one of which is Duriel, who is also referred to as the Echo of Duriel or Uber Duriel.
Duriel is one of the 5 new Uber Endgame bosses introduced with the season 2 update for Diablo 4. To find this boss, players must reach World Tier 4 and travel to the Gaping Crevasse dungeon, which is south of Gea Kul in Kehjistan.
Once you are inside the dungeon, you will find a summoning altar, which indicates that you have to perform a summoning ritual for the boss to appear.
In order to summon Duriel, you need to acquire 2 different materials; Mucus-Slick Eggs and Shards of Agony.
Players can acquire Mucus-Slick Eggs by destroying the Echo of Varshan on World Tier 4, but this may not be enough to kill this boss once to summon Duriel, so you may have to repeat this process several times.
Shards of Agony, on the other hand, can be earned by defeating Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint. You may have to defeat this enemy a few times to collect enough shards to summon Duriel.
Once you have 2 Mucus-Slick Eggs and 2 Shards of Agony, you can go to the dungeon and summon Duriel.

How to beat Duriel
Before attempting to conquer Duriel, we recommend that you optimize your build and gear for maximum survivability rather than focusing on how much damage you deal.
Since the boss is level 100, you should level up and upgrade your equipment as much as possible before taking on this fight.
During the fight, you will encounter adds, which you have to kill as soon as they spawn. Players should avoid the adds’ continuous fire poison projectiles as much as possible.
You will also notice that there are multiple holes in the area where you fight Duriel. These holes allow the adds to emerge when Duriel summons them, so you should maintain a safe distance from them.
Lastly, we recommend that you use Elixirs of Poison Resistance, as most of Duriel’s attacks inflict poison.
Duriel’s attack patterns
As the fight against Duriel progresses, you will figure out a few of his attack patterns. Some of Duriel’s attack patterns are listed and explained below:
Name | Description |
Poison Pool | The boss will occasionally shoot a poison projectile which will turn into a poison pool upon reaching the ground. These pools can restrict your movement, so you should build up some Poison Resistance. |
Claw Attack | Duriel performs a series of claw attacks which end with a ground stab. This creates a poison pool. You should avoid stepping in this pool as it inflicts continuous damage. |
Charge Attack | You can use your Evade when Duriel performs a charge attack towards your character. |
Burrow Attack | If you deplete Duriel’s health enough, he will burrow underground and emerge from one of the holes. This can deal massive damage and it is difficult to avoid. |
Additional Uber Bosses
In addition to Duriel, there are several Uber bosses to defeat, though each boss requires that Diablo 4 players acquire certain materials to summon them:
Boss | Summoning materials required |
Lord Zir | Exquisite Blood |
Echo of Varshan | Malignant Body Parts |
Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint | Living Steel |
The Beast in the Ice | Distilled Fear |
