Diablo 4: Shako Bug

Diablo 4 players were able to obtain the Shako, which is the most powerful item in the game, because of a bug, but it has been resolved.

Players can create a character from 1 of 5 available classes and use their skills to complete quests through combat in Diablo IV.

Since the game was released recently, it will come as no surprise that it features several bugs. One of the bugs that players are experiencing is the Shako Bug.

Diablo 4: Shako Bug

Diablo 4’s Helltide is an in-game event where a particular zone on the world map turns blood red and fills up with tough adversaries.

This event gives players the opportunity to earn Uber Uniques, which were previously only farmable in Nightmare Dungeons.

Uber Uniques are considered the most powerful and rarest items in the game. Some players have spent hundreds of hours playing the game without ever coming across them.

However, a bug for easily earning some of the Uber Uniques, especially the Shako, was recently discovered.

The Shako, also referred to as the Harlequin Crest, is one of, if not the most powerful, item(s) in Diablo IV and therefore, many players are farming it.

The trick involves your character class, for example, Barbarians do not have many Unique helmets, which means that the Helltide chests which only give out helmets are much more likely to contain Shakos instead.

Barbarians can therefore open the helm chest repeatedly to get the Shako. After YouTuber, Raxxanterax, shared this hack on YouTube, several players acquired their Shako.

Did Blizzard resolve the Shako Bug?

It did not take long for Blizzard to realize that players found a hack through which to gain the Shako much faster than intended. To resolve the issue, the developer removed all the Uber Uniques from the game until a hotfix goes live.

The hotfix was released on Friday, 7 July 2023, which means that Blizzard resolved the bug that allowed players to get the Shako by opening the helm chests repeatedly.

According to the patch notes, Blizzard has re-enabled Uber Uniques to drop from Helltide chests as well as any chest in Diablo 4.

Can you keep your Shako?

Allegedly, players will not have the items that Blizzard removed, although that seems to be because a relatively small number of players actually obtained a Shako.

However, Blizzard does reserve the right to roll back drops in the future if it is warranted.
