The recent Genshin Impact update introduced Raiden Shogun, and her most optimal builds are a backup damage dealer or a DPS carry.
Genshin Impact: Raiden Shogun build
The Genshin Impact 2.1 update introduces Baal, also known as Raiden Shogun. She is the main villain in Inazuma and has blitzed her way to the top rankings of the tier lists. Even though Baal wields a sword in the game’s cutscenes, she is actually an Electro polearm user.
However, she occasionally uses her sword as it only becomes active during her elemental burst. Baal’s general purpose is for support, but that does not stop players from turning her into a damage dealer. She is seen as one of the most controversial and conflicting characters.
Nevertheless, players will be very thankful for obtaining her, no matter the method of acquisition. Just like other Archon characters, Baal is capable of quite a lot. However, her most optimal role is a backup damage dealer, or a damage per second (DPS) carry.
Electro DPS carry
Even though Baal is best played as a support, she is also feasible as the team’s DPS carry. This build requires that players buff up her burst as much as possible. This is necessary because that is where most of Baal’s damage originates.
Regarding artifacts, it is recommended that players obtain four pieces of ‘Emblem of Severed Fate’.
It is believed that the Noblesse Oblige can contribute more to the burst, but when Baal has 200 percent Energy Recharge, then Severed Fate is the better option. It is able to surpass the damage bonuses given by any other artifact set.

Weapon for a DPS carry role
Genshin Impact players can choose anything that gives Energy Recharge or increased attack percentage. However, it is recommended that players equip themselves with the Engulfing Lighting, The Catch, Primordial Jade Winged Spear or the Staff of Homa.
Recommended teams for DPS carry role
It is believed that Kujou Sara is the best support for a DPS Raiden Shogun. Players should ensure this to include her in a Raiden team. The rest of the team can consist of Xingqui, Zhongli, Bennett, Kazuha and Sucrose.
DPS support
Baal does not have Venti or Zhongli’s utility. This means that her focus as a support would be to either act as a backup DPS or as an energy generator. It is believed that this build is the most desirable and most affordable way to build Baal.
As a sub-DPS or support, Energy Recharge should be the priority even when it exceeds 200 percent. All the excess energy will transfer to other units and keep Baal’s other teammates’ Elemental Bursts topped up.
Baal’s Elemental Skill is also very useful in this build. The skill provides a more consistent Electro application, compared to other units. It is not necessary to buff up her Elemental Burst, as players are not relying on her to deal a lot of damage. This means that the artifact set choices can be flexible.
Artifacts
As previously mentioned, artifact choices are not too strict for the support role. Players can thus choose between Thundering Fury, Emblem of Severed Fate or Noblesse Oblige.
However, players might want to skip the four-piece bonus for Thundering Fury. The two-piece bonus works well to buff Baal’s Elemental Skill and any Electro damage.

The recommended artifact and statistics for Baal in a support role is very similar to the DPS carry role. However, the main statistics differ.

The weapons for a Baal support do not really matter, however, players should ensure that she obtains more Energy Recharge. The recommended weapons are The Catch, Engulfing Lightning, Favonius Lance and Skyward Spine.
Team for a support role
in Genshin Impact, Baal does best in teams that deal a lot of physical, Pyro or Hydro, damage. She will thus fit best in teams with Eula, Diona, Xingqiu, Yoimiya, Anemo, Childe, Xiangling and Bennett.
