Immortals Gaming Club bought Infinite Esports and Entertainment, the parent company of OpTic Gaming in a deal valued at $100 million.
OpTic Gaming is an American professional eSports and entertainment organisation headquartered in Frisco, Texas. The organisation has quite a history since it was established in 2006.
At one stage, the company was sold, and numerous players are curious about how much OpTic Gaming was sold for.
OpTic Gaming history
OpTic Gaming was established in 2006 by OpTic ‘KR3W and OpTic Enigma as a Call of Duty 2 competitive team. It mainly specializes in Search and Destroy, as well as Team Deathmatch. In 2008, the group of friends had grown older, which led to the team disbanding.
With OpTic Enigma long gone, KR3W stepped down to hand the team over to long-time member, Hector H3CZ Rodriguez. The team made its new beginnings under H3CZ on the MLG scene in 2010.
They also released a book called OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports Champions, which details the players’ individual Call of Duty eSport careers and their contributions to the team success.
How much did OpTic Gaming sell for?
In 2017, Texas Rangers co-owner, Neil Leibman, and co-investor, Chris Chaney, were sold a majority interest in the organisation.
The amount that the interest was sold for is currently unknown. They created Infinite eSports and Entertainment, which is a holding company that includes OpTic Gaming and Houston Outlaws.
In June of 2019, Immortals Gaming Club acquired Infinite eSports and Entertainment in a deal valued at ＄100 million.
Rodriguez left OpTic Gaming in September of the same year to become the co-founder of NRG, and the Outlaws were later sold to Beasley Media Group in November 2019.
However, in November 2020, 100 Thieves, an organisation created by former OpTic Gaming player, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, had acquired Immortals Gaming Club’s LA CDL slot and would rebrand the team in the 2021 season to the Los Angeles Thieves.
Shortly thereafter, Immortals Gaming Club revealed that Hector Rodriguez fully reacquired the rights to the “OpTic Gaming” name, which means that he has full ownership of the organisation, even though he also relinquished his minority ownership of Immortals’ League of Legends roster in the deal.
It was also announced that the Chicago Huntsmen, the Call of Duty League Chicago Slot, which is owned by NRG eSports, would be rebranded to OpTic Chicago. This empires the return of the ‘real “OpTic” to the Call of Duty eSports scene.
In November 2021, it was announced that Envy Gaming would acquire the OpTic Gaming brand as part of a merger. Rodriguez joined the combined companies’ ownership group and was to serve as the president of OpTic Gaming.
On 28 April 2022, OpTic Gaming signed SkittleCakes, Dooplex, and Knoqd to a competitive Apex Legends roster. Later in 2022, Envy Gaming announced that they are retiring the Envy brand and becoming OpTic Gaming entirely.
OpTic Gaming notable achievements

Will Rodriguez remain the president of OpTic Gaming?
At the time of writing this, it is unknown whether Rodriguez will remain the president of OpTic Gaming or not. However, fans of the organisation expect that he will stay in charge of several rosters for the coming years.
If there is any change in OpTic’s CEO position, they will announce it on their official platforms, including their social media platforms and their website. Players should therefore keep an eye on their social media channels for official statements.
OpTic Gaming controversies
Although OpTic Gaming is a fairly successful organisation, they have experienced some controversy throughout the years.
During PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG) tournament in March 2018, OpTic Bahawaka, one of the team’s members, was found guilty of exploiting a glitch in the game that enabled him to see through walls.
Due to the tournament’s rules, OpTic had to forfeit the match. The forfeit moved OpTic from 2nd place to 5th place, which means that they lost ＄12 000 in winnings.
In 2018, another player was caught using an aimbot during a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament. The aimbot allowed the player to lock onto enemies.
When caught, he was recorded trying to hide the cheats while the referee investigated. Furthermore, he had attempted to disguise his cheats as ‘word.exe.’
