Fear not, soldier! Transferring your game from your trusty PS4 to the next-gen powerhouse is a straightforward process. Here’s a breakdown of the methods you can use:

The quickest and easiest way to transfer Modern Warfare (assuming you’re referring to Modern Warfare II or its successor) from your PS4 to your PS5 is to utilize an external hard drive. If you’ve already been using an external drive to store your PS4 games, simply unplug it from your old console and plug it into your PS5. The PS5 will recognize the drive and you can launch the game directly from it.

If you do not have an external hard drive or prefer not to use one, there are alternative methods, such as downloading it again directly on the PS5, using a Wi-Fi network or a local area network (LAN) cable.

Step-by-Step Transfer Guide

Before beginning the transfer, ensure both your PS4 and PS5 are connected to the same network. Sign in to the PlayStation Network on both consoles using the same account. This ensures that your progress and purchases transfer seamlessly.

Method 1: Using an External Hard Drive

Unplug the External Drive: Safely eject the external hard drive from your PS4. Make sure the console is completely off before unplugging.

Plug into PS5: Connect the external hard drive to one of the USB ports on your PS5.

Locate the Game: On your PS5 home screen, navigate to your Game Library. You should see Modern Warfare listed on the external drive.

Play! Simply select the game and start playing.

Method 2: Data Transfer Over Network

Prepare Both Consoles: Ensure both your PS4 and PS5 are powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network or using a LAN cable. Using a LAN cable will provide a much faster and more stable transfer.

Initiate Transfer on PS5: On your PS5, go to Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer.

Follow On-Screen Instructions: Your PS5 will guide you through the process of connecting to your PS4. You may need to press the power button on your PS4 to confirm the connection.

Select Data to Transfer: Choose Modern Warfare and any other games or data you wish to move to your PS5.

Start the Transfer: The transfer time will vary depending on the size of the game and the speed of your network connection.

Complete the Process: Once the transfer is complete, your PS5 will restart. You can then find Modern Warfare in your Game Library.

Method 3: Downloading Directly on PS5

Navigate to Game Library: On your PS5, go to your Game Library.

Find Modern Warfare: Look for Modern Warfare in your list of purchased games.
