The answer to this question is no, as if your account received a VAC ban, then all items for that game are locked on your account and may not be sold on the market, traded, or gifted to anyone else. This restriction is a part of the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) system’s measures to prevent cheating and ensure fair play in Steam games, particularly in games like CS:GO and TF2.
Understanding VAC Bans and Their Implications
What is a VAC Ban?
A VAC ban is issued when the VAC system detects cheats or hacks in a game, resulting in the player’s account being banned from playing on VAC-protected servers. This type of ban is permanent and affects the account’s ability to engage in various activities, including trading and selling items.
FAQs About VAC Bans and Selling Items
- What does a VAC ban do to your account?: A VAC ban prevents you from playing on VAC-protected servers in any VAC-enabled game on your account, but you can still play on custom servers if they are not VAC-protected.
- Has anyone ever gotten a VAC ban removed?: VAC bans are permanent, but in rare cases where technical issues with VAC and specific applications are involved, a handful of players have had their bans reversed.
- Can you make a new account after a VAC ban?: While you can create a new account, it’s crucial not to cheat, as this can lead to further VAC bans and potential termination of your Steam account.
- Can you share games with a VAC banned account?: Steam Family Sharing does not allow the sharing of games for which the player is VAC banned.

- How many VAC bans can you get?: While there’s technically no limit, repeatedly collecting VAC bans may lead to the termination of your Steam Account.
- Can you get VAC banned for using Cheat Engine?: Yes, if you use Cheat Engine or similar tools to cheat in Valve games on VAC-secured servers, you can receive a VAC ban.
- Is Valve Anti-Cheat good?: The effectiveness of VAC is proven by the number of banned accounts, but cheaters can still ruin games before being banned.
- Will CS:GO bans carry over to CS2?: Yes, VAC bans, game bans, and competitive cooldowns from CS:GO will carry over to Counter-Strike 2.
