Yes, Magearna is still obtainable in various Pokémon games, albeit through different methods depending on the title. This artificial Pokémon, crafted 500 years ago, remains a sought-after prize for dedicated trainers. Let’s delve into the specifics of how to acquire Magearna, clearing up any confusion and providing a definitive guide for eager players.
Magearna Availability Across Different Pokémon Games
Magearna’s availability varies depending on the specific game. Here’s a breakdown:
-
Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon: Magearna can be obtained by scanning a QR code. This is the original method of distribution, and fortunately, the QR code does not expire. Once scanned, you can pick up Magearna from the deliveryman inside the Hau’oli City Mall. This method is tied to your save file, meaning you can only claim Magearna once per game.
-
Pokémon HOME: Original Color Magearna is a reward for completing the National Pokédex in Pokémon HOME. This means you must register all 898 Pokémon that existed as of the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield into your Pokémon HOME Pokédex. This is a significant undertaking, requiring extensive trading, transferring, and potentially replaying older games.
-
Pokémon GO: As of the information provided, Magearna has not yet been released in Pokémon GO. Any information about catch rates is speculative or refers to potential future events.
-
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Magearna can be transferred to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet from other games through Pokémon HOME, provided you have already obtained it in one of the compatible titles.
Unlocking Original Color Magearna in Pokémon HOME: A Herculean Task
The quest for Original Color Magearna is the ultimate test of a trainer’s dedication. Here’s what it entails:
- Complete National Pokédex in Pokémon HOME: This is not merely about registering every Pokémon from the main series games. You need to have all 898 Pokémon registered in your Pokémon HOME Pokédex at once.
- No Restrictions on Pokémon Origin: The Pokémon can originate from any compatible game, including Pokémon GO, Pokémon Let’s Go, Pokémon Sun and Moon, and Pokémon Sword and Shield. They can even be transferred from the Pokémon Bank on older 3DS systems.
- Claim Your Reward: Once the National Pokédex is completed, you can claim the Original Color Magearna as a Mystery Gift within the Pokémon HOME app.
Important Considerations
- Mythical Pokémon Limitations: Mythical Pokémon are often event-exclusive and cannot be encountered in the wild. This makes acquiring them more challenging, often requiring reliance on past distributions or trades with other players.
- Pokémon HOME Premium: While a free version of Pokémon HOME exists, a Premium subscription is virtually essential for completing the National Pokédex due to storage limitations and transfer options.
- Trading: Trading is a crucial aspect of completing the National Pokédex. Online trading communities and forums are invaluable resources for finding Pokémon you need.
The Rarity of Magearna
Magearna holds a unique position among Mythical Pokémon. Its initial availability through a QR code made it relatively accessible, but Original Color Magearna is exceedingly rare due to the stringent requirements for obtaining it. The completion of the National Pokédex is a significant achievement, and only a small percentage of players have accomplished this feat. Even more challenging is the fact that you are not only collecting, but maintaining the collection. This means you need to keep all 898 Pokemon in your Pokemon Home account until you obtain Original Color Magearna.
Final Thoughts
Magearna remains obtainable, offering a unique challenge and reward for dedicated Pokémon trainers. Whether you’re scanning the QR code for the standard Magearna or embarking on the monumental task of completing the National Pokédex for the Original Color variant, acquiring this artificial Pokémon is a testament to your commitment to the world of Pokémon.
