The Hallow cannot spread through mud or Jungle grass, and it is also unable to spread through certain types of blocks such as wood, clay blocks, ash blocks, silt blocks, obsidian, ores, gems, and most types of bricks, with the exception of Pearlstone which can spread the Hallow. Additionally, the Hallow cannot spread through Snow Blocks, Glowing Mushroom biome, or sunflowers, which provide a natural barrier against the spread of Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow.
FAQs
General Information
- What can the Hallow not spread to?: The Hallow cannot spread to mud areas, such as those found in Jungles or Glowing Mushroom biomes, and it is also unable to spread through certain types of blocks such as wood, clay blocks, ash blocks, silt blocks, obsidian, ores, gems, and most types of bricks.
- How do you stop Hallow spread?: The Dungeon can completely prevent the spread of Hallow and Corruption/Crimson if it reaches down to the Underworld, and if it doesn’t reach that far, it can at least slow it down.
- Can Hallow spread through wood?: Corruption/Crimson/Hallow can spread through placed/living wood and stone brick/slab.
Spreading and Prevention
- How do you stop crimson and Hallow from spreading?: You need to dig a surrounding tunnel that is at least three blocks wide, although it is recommended to go for six, just in case, to prevent the affected blocks from spreading past it.
- Can sunflowers stop Corruption in Terraria?: Sunflowers provide the following functions: the two tiles directly underneath them cannot become Corrupted, Crimsoned, or Hallowed, even in Hardmode.
- Can Hallow spread through Crimson?: No, the two cannot convert each other, and Crimson and Hallow spread at the same speed, but Crimson probably has a bigger starting area to spread from.
Biome Interactions
- Does the Dryad hate the Hallow?: She sees Hallow as “good”, and Corruption or Crimson as “bad”, and the Dryad makes the distinction between Corruption and Crimson if they are present in the same world.
- Can crystals spread the Hallow Terraria?: Crystal Shards emit a small glow, similar to Demonite Ore and Crimtane Ore, but they do not spread the Hallow.
- Can Hallow spread through brick?: Almost all other blocks are immune to Corruption and Hallow, including Wood, Clay Blocks, Ash Blocks, Silt Blocks, Obsidian, Ores, Gems, and all bricks (except Pearlstone, which will spread Hallow).
NPCs and Construction
- Can NPCs live in the Hallow?: Unlike Corruption/Crimson, NPCs can live in the Hallow without leaving, and in fact, it is a good idea to have your base Hallowed, as this will stop the evil biomes from coming towards it.
- Is Gray Brick corruptible Terraria?: Gray Brick is a basic brick, often used in construction, as it requires only common Stone blocks to produce and, unlike its constituent materials, is resistant to the spread of Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow.
- Does pearlstone brick spread Hallow?: Pearlstone Brick is a building material, and they do not spread the Hallow when placed, making them a safer construction material than their raw ingredients.
World Interaction
- Is the Hallow evil in Terraria?: The Hallow is considered an opposite to the Corruption or Crimson biomes, since it can spread like they can, and it has light-themed items instead of the evil biomes’ night or evil-themed items.
- Can Hallow overpower Corruption?: Only time a Hallow naturally can cut through Corruption or Crimson is after you kill the Wall of Flesh, and the initial V-shaped burst can cut through and leave a patch of Hallow in any evil biome if its in its way.
- Can you spread the Hallow with the Clentaminator?: The Clentaminator is generally the fastest means of spreading or removing Hallow, Corruption, and Crimson, and it can also rapidly convert Jungle to Glowing Mushroom biome and vice versa.
