The Enigmatic Blade: Unveiling the Mystery of Raiden Shogun’s Sword Source

▶

Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon of Inazuma in Genshin Impact, is renowned for her formidable power and striking visual design. One of her most iconic abilities is the summoning of her sword during her Elemental Burst, the Musou Isshin. The source of this blade has sparked much debate and intrigue within the Genshin Impact community. Raiden Shogun pulls the sword from her chest. More specifically, she draws it from a plane of Euthymia that exists within her being. This isn’t a literal, physical storage space, but rather a manifestation of her inner world and unwavering pursuit of eternity.

Understanding the Musou Isshin and Euthymia

The Sword’s Significance

The Musou Isshin isn’t just any sword; it represents Raiden Shogun’s power and resolve. In-game, its appearance is tied to her Elemental Burst, dramatically increasing her attack power and altering her combat style. Lore-wise, it connects her to her late twin sister, Raiden Makoto (Baal). The sword originally belonged to Makoto before being passed down to Raiden Ei (Beelzebul) after Makoto’s death during the Cataclysm.

Euthymia: A Realm Within

Euthymia is central to understanding where the sword originates. Ei created a plane of Euthymia for herself, which is essentially her own inner world, a place where she could meditate and pursue eternity. This plane serves as the source and conduit for her power, and the Musou Isshin is drawn from this inner sanctum. It is important to note that she doesn’t simply hide a physical sword; she manifests the sword from her inner realm.

The Visual Spectacle and its Interpretation

The animation of Raiden Shogun drawing the sword from her chest has led to the popular (and sometimes humorous) term “boob sword“. While visually suggestive, this is a simplistic and potentially misleading interpretation. The sword emerges from the general area of her chest, but the animation and lore strongly suggest it comes from her inner world, not from physically within her body. The chest area is simply the focal point for this dramatic manifestation of power.
