Destiny 2: Error Code CAT

Players who experience error code ‘CAT’ while playing Destiny 2 should ensure that they have the latest version of the game installed.

Destiny 2’s latest season, Season of the Deep, introduced various new activities, weapons, gear pieces and dungeons for players to enjoy.

Although the season has been active for quite some time, players are experiencing bugs while progressing through the main arc. One of the most common error codes is CAT.

Destiny 2: Error Code CAT

Destiny 2 was released in 2017, and it still experiences regular bugs. Players can resolve most of the error codes on their own, however, there are some bugs that only the game’s developers can fix. One of these error codes is ‘CAT’.

Fortunately, error code CAT is one of the easiest codes to resolve. This code can appear on account of issues on Bungie’s side, or on your side.

If it is the latter, there is a simple solution. CAT generally appears when the developers have released a hotfix or an update for Destiny 2.

According to Bungie, the CAT error code appears when a new update is available, and players launch the game without installing the latest patch.

Simply put, it means that you do not have the most recent version of Destiny 2 installed.

To resolve this, we recommend that you ensure that you have the latest version of Destiny 2 installed. If you keep getting the error code, restart your game and log out of your storefront to see if there is an update available.

Steps for personal computer users

Personal computer players can follow these steps to resolve the CAT error code:

Microsoft	Go into the Microsoft store and open the “Downloads and Updates” menu. In the new menu,  select the  “Get updates” option. Players then have to click the “My Collection” option before opening the ánage Installs. You will then come across a list of all installed Xbox games and  updates that are available.
Epic Games	Restart the Epic Games Launcher on your computer. The update for Destiny 2 should start downloading automatically. If this does not work, you have to verify game files in the launcher.
Steam	Players have to restart the Steam app on their computer. The update for Destiny 2 should appear under “Downloads.” If it does not work, you may have to verify the integrity of game files in the Steam app.
