To summon one of Diablo 4’s endgame bosses, Grigoire, players have to travel to the Hall of the Penitent, which can be located in Dry Steppes
Diablo 4 is an exciting role-playing adventurous video game that takes place in the fictional world of Sanctuary.
The second season, Season of Blood, invites players to join the fight against the vampire scourge. This season introduced new events, stories, seasons and rewards for gamers to enjoy.
Grigoire Location
In addition to the new events, stories, seasons and rewards, Season of Blood introduced 5 formidable endgame bosses to Diablo 4, each of which yields great rewards upon defeat.
One of the new endgame bosses that players can defeat is Grigoire, however, to challenge him, you need to reach specific World Tiers and acquire the necessary items to summon him.
Before you can attempt to defeat Grigoire, you have to acquire a resource known as Living Steel. Unlike the other bosses’ summoning materials, Living Steel can be obtained quite easily.
Once you have procured Living Steel, you must travel to the level 75 dungeon, Hall of the Penitent.
Several Diablo 4 players have mentioned that they are struggling to find the entrance of the dungeon. You can find the entrance to the Hall of Penitent in Dry Steppes, just south of its capital, Ked Bardu.
Once you are inside the dungeon, you will discover an Altar and if you interact with it, you can summon Grigoire if you have enough Living Steel in your inventory.
Keep in mind that you will need to defeat the boss immediately after summoning him. Thus, we recommend that you prepare accordingly before beginning the summoning ritual.
Rewards
If you manage to vanquish Grigoire, you will receive rewards which will be determined by your character’s class. The following table lists the rewards that you can earn based on your class:
Class | Rewards |
Sorcerer |
|
Rogue |
|
Necromancer |
|
Druid |
|
Barbarian |
|
In addition to the items listed in the table, all classes have a chance of obtaining Penitent Greaves by defeating Grigoire.
Furthermore, everyone who destroys the boss will unlock the Demonbinder Mount Armor Cosmetic item.
Living Steel
As previously explained, you have to procure Living Steel in order to summon Grigoire. To obtain this material, open Tortured Gifts of Living Steel during Helltides.
These items can be opened for 400 Aberrant Cinders, which can easily be obtained from enemies during the event. The Tortured Gift of Living Steel does not show up on your mini-map unless you are close-by.
Players should note that the chest is guarded by a gigantic Demon, He-Grins-Wide-and-Waits. You therefore have to defeat the enemy to open the chest.
If you open the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chest on World Tier 3, you will only receive 1 Living Steel, but opening the chest on World Tier 4 will reward you with 3 Living Steel.
Players need 2 Living Steel in World Tier 3 and 5 Living Steel in World Tier 4 to summon Grigoire.
Grigoire’s abilities
While fighting Grigoire, he will use certain abilities. The following table lists and describes every ability that you can encounter during the fight:
Ability | Description |
Shocking Entry | If you summon Grigoire, the entire room will be filled with electricity |
Spark Strike | Whenever the boss attacks with his mace, he will release several sparks which float around the room to deal Lightning damage. |
Empowered Spark Strike | This ability functions exactly like the normal version, but it has a wider radius and knocks the player back if it connects |
Thunderous Blow | Grigoire slams his mace into the ground to create electrified reverberations. |
Knights Penitent | After depleting some of the boss’ health, he will summon Knights Penitent to aid him in the battle |
How to survive the fight against Grigoire
Before going to the Hall of the Penitent, you should either craft a Potent Elixir of Lightning Resistance or visit an Alchemist to purchase an Elixir. This potion will help you counter Grigoire’s Lightning abilities.
Furthermore, every ability has some tricks that you can use to survive the attack:
Ability | Strategy |
Shocking Entry | Players should avoid the electrified tiles when the boss appears |
Spark Strike | Hide behind the boss to evade the attack and resulting sparks |
Empowered Spark Strike | Players must position their character to avoid being knocked back into an environmental hazard. |
Thunderous Blow | Move away from the red circles |
Knights Penitent | Diablo 4 players can use AoE skills to dispatch them quickly |
