Yoshitsune is considered one of the best Ranged PvP Generals in Evony, however, you need to assign a Dragon to him to activate its abilities.
As you advance in Evony: The King’s Return, you will collect a variety of Generals, each of which specializes in a specific activity in the game.
One of the Generals that you can acquire is Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who was the military commander of the Minamoto Clan of Japan.
To add Yoshitsune to your General collection, you have to pay a visit to the Tavern, as it allows you to recruit Generals.
There is no guarantee that Yoshitsune will be available for recruitment though, which means that you may have to visit the Tavern a few times to recruit him.
Alternatively, you can use your Gems to refresh the available Generals. That being said, there is no guarantee that Yoshitsune will become available once you have refreshed the available Generals.
When Yoshitsune is available for recruitment, you will have to pay 45 000 000 to add him to your General Collection.
When you have collected Yoshitsune, you can increase his level, upgrade his statistics and improve his abilities to make him a powerful General.
His statistics will increase every time you increase his level, and you can complete the enhancement and cultivation processes to enhance his statistics.
The amount by which his statistics increase is equal to the growth rate shown below:

Yoshitsune’s abilities
Similar to other Generals in Evony, Yoshitsune has various abilities that you can use to vanquish enemies. The following table lists his abilities and a description of each:

Monarchs should note that the Battle of Dan-no-ura ability only activates when a dragon is assigned to Yoshitsune. If you send Yoshitsune out without a dragon, your ranged troop’s attacks will not be increased by 46%.
Yoshitsune’s special skill
Unlike the other skills, Yoshitune’s special skill requires no development, which means that you will receive all the benefits that the skill has to offer without developing it. His special skill, Shanao, increases the ranged troops’ attack by 25%.
However, if a dragon is assigned to Yoshitsune, the ranged troops’ attack will increase by an additional 15%.
Although this skill requires no development, you can enhance Yoshitsune to unlock his star-levels, which will provide you with additional effects.
At 2 stars, Yoshitsune will increase troop death into wounded rate by 8% when he is leading the attack. However, at 5 stars, Yoshitsune will increase ranged troops’ attacks, defense and health points by 10%.
Monarchs should note that the enhancing process requires a specific amount of gold and medals.
Yoshitune’s builds
Even though you can refine any of Yoshitune’s equipment and assign any skill books to him, this is not recommended.

Dragons
Dragons are special creatures that players can unlock from the Pasture and Dragon Clif buildings.
You can equip a Dragon to a General, such as Yoshitsune, to assist them in battle. But keep in mind that every Dragon has unique unlock requirements and a different speciality in terms of its best use.
Although there are more than 10 Dragons, only a few Dragons can be assigned to Yoshitsune.
The Celtic Demon is best used with Ranged PvP Generals as its buffs are focused on improving Ranged Troops. Alternatively, you can use Jawzahr, Nidhogg, Ladon and Colchian.
