Heavensturn is an annual event in FFXIV that is focused on eastern traditions. During the event, players can complete quests to discover their fortunes.

In-game events in FFXIV
During an in-game event, players can experience FFXIV in a new, explorative way for a limited period of time. These events often motivate players to reopen and play a game that they may have been neglecting for some time previously.
When an event is active, you have to complete specific tasks to earn rewards. Sometimes, the rewards that you can earn can only be procured from that specific event. It is therefore advisable that you attempt to participate in all the in-game events.
In-game events sometimes have themes that correspond to real-life occasions, such as Christmas or Halloween. However, some game developers create their own themes for in-game events.
FFXIV: Heavensturn
Heavensturn is an annual event in FFXIV that takes place after New Year’s Day. This event is focused on the eastern traditions of the festivity, which is the counterpart of the New Year event in Final Fantasy XI.
During the event, you can collect different rewards based on the festivities theme. Every year’s Heavensturn event is inspired by a specific theme and features a different creature as the protagonist.
Similarly to the other annual events, the Heavensturn event decorates the 3 city-states, Eorzea, and the residential districts.
The Heavensturn 2023 introduces 2 seasonal quests, a new armour set, as well as brand new furnishing items. The event started on 31 December 2022 and will conclude on 16 January 2023.
The seasonal quests cannot be completed after the event concludes, so players have to ensure that they complete it before then.
To begin the first seasonal quest, you have to speak to Usagi Bugyo in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. Keep in mind that you have to be at least level 15 to accept this quest. After the cutscene, you have to speak to the Far Eastern Omikujishi.
Players are then tasked with spreading the word of the omikuji by speaking to 4 different non-player characters, who can be found in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. After speaking to them, you have to return to the Far Eastern Omikujishi to receive your fortune.
Once you have completed the Box of Fortune quest, you can pick up the last seasonal quest, which yields great rewards.
With Great Fortune Comes Great Responsibility
It is noteworthy that this quest can only be completed after the Box of Fortune quest. To begin the With Great Fortune Comes Great Responsibility quest, you can speak to the Far Eastern Omikujishi.
After the cutscene, you have to use the rally and the psych emotes on Beaudefoin, which can be found at X:11.7, Y:14.2. Once you have used the emotes, you have to go to Lower La Noscea and speak with Beaudefoin.
Return to Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks and speak with the Far Eastern Omikujishi to complete the quest. He will reward you with the Heavensturn Kote, Heavensturn Haidate, Heavensturn Sune-Ate, and the Heavensturn Domaru.
Players will also complete the Hoppy New Year achievement.
Heavensturn limited items
You can find the Usagi Shonin Festival Supplier at X:11.3, Y:13.6 in Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks. When you interact with him, you will get the opportunity to purchase limited-time items.
Keep in mind that you do not have to complete the seasonal quests to access this in-game shop.
Moreover, this non-player-character will disappear from FFXIV after the event concludes. You should therefore purchase the items that you want before the event concludes.

Are the fortunes that you receive from FFXIV Heavensturn 2023 randomly generated?
The fortunes that your character can obtain during the Heavensturn 2023 are allegedly not randomly generated. The fortunes appear to be linked to where your character is in the main story quest of FFXIV.
This ultimately means that players will receive varying fortunes, as their progress in the main story quests will differ.
It is important to remember that if you are not happy with the fortune that you received, you can draw another. If you pick a fortune during the quest, your first draw is free. All fortunes drawn after the story require a donation of 100 Gil.
