Crafting classes in FFXIV
The Disciple of the Hand (DoH) features 8 crafting skills that you can learn and level up. The 8 classes are Carpenter, Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Leatherworker, Armorer, Weaver, Alchemist, and Culinarian.
In order to learn these skills, you need to become a Disciple of the Hand. You have to be at least level 10 in either Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic to become a DoH.
If you are eligible, you can visit the guild associated with the desired craft to begin your first job quest. You can level up each crafting class up to level 90 and you need to complete quests and craft items in order to level up a crafting class.
FFXIV: Which crafter to level first
Since there are 8 crafting classes, it can be difficult to decide which crafting class you want to level up first.
Although it is recommended that you level up most, or all, of the crafting classes simultaneously, since they feed each other with intermediate materials, you can focus on leveling up only 1 class at a time.
Keep in mind that leveling up only 1 or 2 classes at a time may take longer than leveling up most of them simultaneously.
We recommend that you level up all of the crafting classes to level 15 before focusing on Culinary. You then have to focus on increasing your culinary to level 37 to unlock Steady Hand II.
When you have unlocked the skill, you can increase your Carpenter skill to level 50 to unlock Byregot’s Blessing. At the same time, you can increase your Weaver and Alchemist skills to level 50 to unlock Careful Synth II and Comfort Zone, respectively.
Byregot’s Blessing helps you acquire several quality and high quality items while Careful Synthesis II has a 100 percent success rate for progress gain. Comfort Zone costs 66 craft points (CP), but it gives you 80 CP over 10 steps.
Once these 3 crafting classes reach level 50, you can focus on increasing the remaining classes to level 50 to unlock their skills.
When all of your crafting classes are level 50, you can level them up simultaneously, as many of the crafting quests require materials that can be procured from another crafting class.
Guilds
As explained previously, you need to go to the associated guild of the skill you want to learn. The guild is where you will begin most of the crafting class’s quests.

How to level up your crafting classes
When you are just starting out in a crafting class, you simply have to craft items to gain a few levels. All the items that you craft will reward you with experience points, but a failed craft awards none.
As you gain levels, you will be able to craft high-quality items. High quality items offer gamers more experience points than normal items.
However we recommend that you focus on Quick Synthesis, as it is the most time-efficient way of leveling up in the early stages of the game. Once you reach level 20, you can complete quests which are scattered throughout the world.
Alternatively, you can become the Firmament in Ishgard to level up your crafting. Both options have various daily and weekly activities that you can complete to accumulate experience points.
Is crafting worth it?
Several players think crafting is a waste of time in FFXIV, however, it is one of the best ways to procure Gil, which is an in-game currency. You can sell your crafted items and rare materials on the Market Board to make money.
Furthermore, crafting also makes a difference in gear. Players with the best gear in the game are often crafters who made the gear themselves. Crafters have the ability to make high-quality gear, which gives them a statistical boost.
