God of War Ragnarok: Why did Sindri disappear when Brok died?

After Brok’s sudden death in God of War Ragnarok, Sindri disappeared for a short period of time to process his grief.

God of War: Ragnarӧk is an exciting action-adventure video game, and it is the ninth instalment of the God of War series. The game is based on Norse mythology, and it is set in ancient Scandinavia. As the player, you assume the role of Kratos, who explores regions with his teenage son, Atreus.

Concluding the Norse era of the series, the game covers Ragnarӧk, the eschatological event which is central to Norse mythology. This occurrence was foretold to happen in the previous game, God of War, after Kratos killed the god, Baldur.

While advancing in Ragnarӧk, you may notice that Sindri disappeared after Brok was killed. Many players are curious to know why he disappeared.

Sindri and Brok

Sindri, also known as Eitri, and Brok are characters in the God of War game franchise. Since they are Dwarfs, they were responsible for forging Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir and Kratos’ axes, and Leviathan, which formerly belonged to Laufey.

In their forge, they can improve the weapons and the equipment of Spartan and his son, as long as they are provided with the required materials. Brok and Sindri used to argue about who was the best forger, which caused the family business to be divided into 2.

Although they are secondary characters in the game, they meant a great deal to Kratos and Atreus during their adventure. Moreover, they also served as comic relief.

God of War Ragnarok: Why did Sindri disappear when Brok died?

At one point in the game, Kratos is pulled into participating in Ragnarӧk, which is the great war against Asgard.

Before that happens, though, it is revealed that Tyr, the Norse god of War, has actually been Odin all along. In other words, he fooled Kratos and his allies to believe that he was on their side.

Odin used his godly powers to disguise himself as Tyr and spent the whole game spying on Atreus, Freya, and Kratos. He then made his grand revelation by stabbing and killing Brok.

Brok’s death broke Sindri, as he became inconsolable. He transformed from the happy and charismatic of the dwarven brothers to a cold and bitter emotional being. Players can witness the transition, especially during Sindri’s interactions with Atreus.

The 2 had grown extremely close since the previous game, during which they used to sneak off on their own adventures.

After Brok’s death, Sindri disappeared for a while to process his grief. Although Sindri grew resentful of Kratos and Atreus for their role in setting up Brok’s death, he later returned to rally the dwarves for Ragnarӧk.

Sindri plays a crucial role in bringing down the walls of Asgard. During these moments, Sindri is not the same person he was before. He was once so clean and tidy, but Brok’s death changed him, so he is covered in blood and dirt.

Atreus tried to engage with him and to express his sorrow. Despite the others constantly reminding Sindri that Odin as Tyr fooled them all, Sindri continues to place the blame on Atreus, as he was the one that welcomed Tyr into their home.

Does Sindri want revenge on Odin?

After discovering that Odin killed Brok, Sindri returned to rally the dwarves in the fight against Asgard. Although that was his primary reason for returning, he also secretly wanted revenge on Odin.

During the fight, Sindri uses a tool that can penetrate through the wall that surrounds Asgard. Inside, Kratos battles and defeats Thor. Just as Thor begins to repent for his sins and pleas to be a better god, Odin appears and kills Thor.

Kratos, Atreus, and Freya then battle and defeat Odin. Atreus uses Giant Magic to trap Odin’s spirit in a marble and reveals that Freya can decide what she wants to do with it. However, Sindri appears, snatches the marble, and smashes it to pieces with a hammer.

Do Sindri and Atreus make peace with one another?

There is no reunion between Sindri and Atreus by the time that the game concludes. At the end of Ragnarӧk, Atreus leaves to seek the remaining Giants, having never repaired the damage between himself and Sindri.

What happens after Ragnarӧk?

God of War’s developer, Santa Monica Studio, has revealed that Ragnarӧk is the end, and that God of War will not have another game. But the way that Ragnarӧk ends opens up the possibility of a follow-up that focuses on Atreus, with the possibility that Sindri will play the villain.

Dwarf Magic is established as extremely powerful in Ragnarӧk, and Sindri’s obvious hatred towards Atreus and Kratos is one of the conspicuous threads that are left untied by the game’s conclusion.
