MCoC: Battlegrounds season 16

MCoC recently announced season 16 of the Battleground game mode which introduced a new in-game shops and buffs.

On Tuesday, 27 February 2024, Marvel Contest of Champions (MCoC) announced season 16 of Battlegrounds. This game mode features a unique style of player-versus player focused gameplay compared to other game modes.

Before rushing into the latest season, we recommend that you consider the active nodes that will apply to any Champions you fight against.

Although the buffs are mostly the same for every track in season 1, week 3-4 of the Gladiators Circuit introduces a new buff that you have to take into consideration.

In addition to the new buffs that you will encounter, the season marks the introduction of a Valiant Battlegrounds Store.

According to the announcement, MCoC is also targeting an update to the Battlegrounds Solo Event with Season 17, while Season 18 will feature an update to the Alliance Events.

This shop allows players to purchase a variety of items, and each item requires a specific amount of in-game currency.

Moreover, the more valuable an item is, the more expensive it will be, and less valuable items can be purchased with fewer in-game currencies.

Victory Track buffs

If you advance in the Victory Track, you will encounter the following buffs:

Name	Description
Eldritch Scar	Whenever a Mystic Attacker Nullifies a Buff on the Defender, it inflicts a Neutralize Passive of 30% potency for 20 seconds. Whenever a Buff on the Defender is prevented by these Neutralizes, the Attacker Passively gains 3% of their max power.
Personal Space Fury	While the attacker is close to the defender, the defender gains a Fury Buff every 3 seconds, which increases its attack by 10% permanently. Staying far away from the Defender causes these Fury effects to fall off gradually.
Overwhelming Odds	The defender gains 25% additional attack for each buff on them
Daunt-Less	The Attacker starts their Spirit Gauge at 50%

Gladiators Circuit

The Gladiators Circuit contains the same buffs as the Victory Track, but during weeks 3 and 4 you will encounter additional buffs:

Name	Description
Footloose	After activating a Special Attack, the defender gains an Evade Buff, which grants a 25% chance to Evade incoming attacks and an Unstoppable Buff for 7 seconds.
Feats of Power	When above 1 Bar of Power, it gains a Fury Buff When above 2 Bars of Power, it gains a Precision Buff When above 3 Bars of Power, it gains a Cruelty Buff
Underhanded Comment	For every buff on the defender, the Attacker’s its defensive ability accuracy is reduced by 15%.
