Amarah is one of the Fresh World servers in New World, which means that you can enjoy new content with a new character from scratch.
New World is a popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that is set in the mid-seventeenth century.
It is up to you to colonise a fictional land that is modelled after the Americans. Although the game was initially free-to-play, it now employs the standard business model of a buy-to-play game.
The game was released in September 2021, and it featured numerous servers for players to play on. However, in November 2022, Amazon Games Orange County, the game’s developers, announced Fresh Start Servers, and one of these is Amarah.
What is a server?
A game server, also commonly referred to as a host, is a server which is the authoritative source of the events in a multiplayer video game.
The server transmits data about its internal state to allow its connected users to maintain their own version of the game world for players to display.
There is a range of different types of servers available, however, video games usually either use a dedicated server or a listen server.
Dedicated servers simulate game worlds without supporting direct output or input, except that which is required for their administration.
Listen servers run in the same process as a game client and they otherwise function as dedicated servers. However, these servers have the disadvantage of having to communicate with remote players over the residential internet connection of the hosting player.
New World: Amarah Server
When New World launched in 2021, it featured multiple servers. However, in November 2022, the game’s developers announced the Fresh Start servers.
These servers act as a means by which the returning player base can enjoy New World’s new content with a new character from scratch.
However, there are not just new characters, Fresh Start servers allow players to enjoy the new economy without any influence from high-level players who have spent months accumulating wealth and land for their guilds.
This essentially means that existing characters are not allowed to transfer to these new servers, but account-wide unlocks and purchases will carry over.
The Fresh Start Worlds launched in New World in the early hours of 2 November 2022. There are now 13 Fresh Start servers to enjoy, however, some of the worlds are bound to a specific region in real life.
United States (US) East currently has 4 Fresh World servers, namely Amarah, Myrddin, Devourer, and Medea. These servers are a way to start afresh.
This means that the territories in Amarah are not controlled by scummy companies and their shell companies. Players on this server will start their New World adventure at level 1, from the beaches.
Amarah has no outside influence, as nobody can transfer into or out of it. You also cannot transfer between servers. This means that all the Gold created in Amarah cannot be influenced by transfers.
Amarah’s economy starts from zero as well, and since everyone on the server is at a low level, there are some interesting ways to make early money.
How to get Gold in Amarah
Gold is the main currency that you can use to purchase equipment, materials, settlements, and houses amongst other things. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to acquire Gold, but since Amarah is a Fresh World server, some of the methods may not be applicable.
Players can complete quests, side quests, and town projects to be rewarded with Gold. Moreover, you can defeat mobs that are scattered around the world, embark on expeditions, sell materials, and collect Motes for Turning Orbs to farm Gold.
How to select Amarah as your server
Every player has to choose a server when they start playing the game. To do this, you have to select a server in the bottom right corner after starting the game. If you are interested in playing on Amarah, select Amarah in the server list.
After selecting Amarah, you can create a new character. Since Amarah is a Fresh World server, you will not be able to transfer one of your characters from another server to Amarah. All players are thus required to create a new character and start the game from level 1.
How to increase your character’s level in Amarah
Since your character will start at level 1 in Amarah, your primary focus should be increasing his or her level. Levelling up in New World is mostly determined by how many quests you complete. The faster you complete the quests, the faster you will level up.
There are numerous quests that you can complete to earn experience points, including town projects and faction missions.
Bear in mind that completing only the main quests will not provide you with enough experience points to get to level 60. You thus have to complete additional quests to reach higher levels.
