Ecto-tokens in OSRS can be obtained by worshiping at the Ectofuntus temple, which is in the north of Port Phasmatys.
Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that invites players to explore a vast fictitious world.
As the game’s name suggests, it is based on the well-renowned game, RuneScape. Players will likely experience similar gameplay, mechanics, and features in both games.
Before you can begin your OSRS adventure, you have to complete introductory questions to familiarise yourself with the game’s mechanics.
Once these are completed, you can defeat enemies, harvest resources, explore the world, and obtain different currencies. One of the currencies you can get are Ecto-tokens.
Ecto-tokens
Ecto-tokens are the currency of Port Phasmatys and they have several uses in and around the city. Players need 2 towns to purchase access to the city if they have not completed the Ghosts Ahoy quest, or to buy ale yeast.
The tokens are also used to charge a Bonecrusher, which is a reward from the hard task set of the Morytania Diary. Players can acquire a Bonecrusher from the Ghost disciple in the Ectofuntus building. Each token gives the Bonecrusher 25 charges.
You can also use Ecto-tokens to purchase an undead chicken, but the Ghost Captain also accepts Ecto-tokens for a trip to Dragontooth Island.
OSRS: How to get Ecto-tokens
You can earn Ecto-tokens by worshiping the Ectofuntus, which is a temple located to the north of Port Phasmatys.
This temple can be worshiped to get 4 times the Prayer experience compared to if you bury the bones. This method saves a lot of time, but it is more time-consuming.

Every time you worship at the temple, you will get 5 Ecto-tokens. Keep in mind that you can only worship 200 times before the Ectofuntus is full. You must claim your tokens to continue worshiping. Players will get approximately 1000 Ecto-tokens for 200 worships.
To worship the Ectofuntus, you need to have buckets, empty pots, and bones. On the east side of the Ectofuntus, players will find stairs, which lead to the bone grinder. You can use the bone on the loader.
On the west side of the temple, there is a trap door and by going down the door, you have to use your buckets on the slime to gather Ectoplasm. You need a pot of Bone Meal for every bucket of Ectoplasm.
When you have all the materials, you can worship the Ectofuntus. Once you have worshiped 200 times, you can collect your tokens.
How to redeem your Ecto-tokens
In order to redeem your Ecto-tokens in OSRS, you can talk to a ghost disciple while wearing the ghostspeak amulet. The amulet is worn in the neck slot, and it enables you to speak to ghosts.
Players can acquire this amulet by completing The Restless Ghost quest. Father Urhney will give you the amulet to speak to the ghost that is haunting the Lumbridge graveyard.
In addition to this quest, you need the Ghostspeak amulet to complete the following quests:
- Animal Magnetism
- Nature Spirit
- Ghosts Ahoy
- Making History
- Creature of Fenkenstrain
- A Fairy Tale Part 1
- Cabin Fever
- Dragon Slayer II
Efficient ways to worship
If you want to reduce the number of trips made in the temple, it is recommended that you first acquire the slime. Next, you can grind half of the amount of total bones in lots of 12 per trip.
Afterwards, the inventory setup would be 12 buckets of slime, 6 crushed bones, and 6 decreased bones if you are using teleportation runes.
Or it can be 13 buckets of slime, 7 crushed bones, and uncrushed bones if you are walking to the bank or using teleport jewellery.
This method results in the minimum number of trips for grinding and worshiping, versus the traditional setup of 9 bones, 9 pots, and 9 slime buckets.
Ectofuntus floors
There are several floors in the Ectofuntus, each of which features unique monsters that you have to defeat. The floors and a description of each are as follows:
Floor | Description | Things you can find |
Ground floor | On this floor, you can discover Necrovarus and several Disciples. The disciples will explain the workings of the Ectofuntus and give you ecto-tokens |
|
First floor | There is only 1 ghost disciple on the floor, and it will explain the workings of the bone grinder |
|
The dungeon | The dungeon can be entered through the metal trapdoor on the ground floor |
