As the name suggests, OSRS is based on the classic game, RuneScape, and as such, you are likely to encounter similar mechanics, controls, and gameplay in both games.
OSRS has a main story arc which serves as your guide to the game. In addition to the main story, you can defeat monsters, harvest resources, learn skills, and engage with other players.
Although these activities are very enjoyable, it is recommended that you primarily focus on the main story. By participating in these activities, players can earn valuable items, including Kudos.
What are Kudos?
Kudos are awarded to players in OSRS for helping the Varrock Museum. This museum is dedicated to the history of Gielinor, and it can be found in the city of Varrock.
It is crucial to note that Kudos are not spent, only accrued. When they are acquired, the count is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Players can also check their Kudos count, and which tasks they have yet to complete by right-clicking on the information booth. The booth is in the north-west corner at the museum’s ground floor.
OSRS: How to get Kudos
In the Varrock Museum, players can engage in several activities that reward them with experience points and Kudos.
One of the ways you can earn Kudos is by cleaning finds from the Digsite. However, this requires completion of the Digsite quest. You can find the Digsite on the ground floor of the museum in the southern part that is cordoned off.
By talking to any of the archaeologists, you will discover that you need to equip leather boots and leather gloves. You also need a trowel, rock pick, and a specimen brush. The boots, gloves, and tools can be found on the tool rack, which is on the south wall.
There are 5 Artefacts that you can exchange for Kudos by talking to any of the archaeologists in the cleaning area.
The easiest way to earn Kudos is by going to the museum’s basement, where you can complete the Natural history quiz. To start, players have to talk to Orlando Smith in the first-floor basement.
There are numerous exhibits which, when you read their plaque, will ask you a question related to the species depicted. You only have to answer 3 questions correctly and there is no penalty for wrong answers.
There are more than 10 quests that correspond to the museum. After completing quests, you can talk to Historian Minas to earn Kudos and antique lamps, which provide 1000 experience in a skill of the player’s choice as a reward.
Why do you need to collect Kudos?
By collecting 153 Kudos, you can use the gate that leads to the Digsite. However, if you are an OSRS member, and have 100 Kudos, you can start the Bone Voyage quest. Completing this quest gives you access to Fossil Island.
Players can find unidentified fossils around the island, which must be cleaned to be identified. As a head start, you can get 5 unidentified small fossils from Peter in the Museum Camp after constructing all the utilities.
There are several areas that you can explore on Fossil Island, including the Mushroom Forest, Tar Swamp, the Volcano, and the underwater world.
How many Kudos does each activity reward?
As previously mentioned, some museums provide more Kudos than others, so it is advisable that you focus on them before completing the other activities. The following table lists the quantity of Kudos you can obtain from each activity:

Varrock Museum floors
You will find numerous floors in the museum, and each one serves a unique purpose. The ground floor is the main floor of the museum, and it is dedicated to the Artefacts from the Digsite.
You can find an information clerk next to a booth situated in the north-west corner of the floor.
The first floor of the museum has display cases that exhibit the chronological history of Gielinor, with the timeline continuing to the second floor.
In the first basement floor, you can find the natural history exhibit, while the second basement floor showcases a wide range of fossils.
