Dragapult
Dragapult is a dual-type Dragon and Ghost pseudo-legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. In every Pokémon generation, there are a few creatures that become team staples because of how competitively viable they are.
In Sword and Shield, one of those creatures was Dragapult, which is now available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Dragapult is the final form of the Dreepy evolutionary line, and it stands above the harder dragons for several reasons.
This Pokémon has a green body that trails off like a wisp of smoke and a triangular head that holds a pair of Dreepy.
Pokémon Sword and Shield: Why is Dragapult so good?
Dragapult’s design is inspired by the Gerrothorax, which is an extinct amphibian that also has a triangular head. However, this Pokémon is not loved for its looks, instead, it is regarded as an effective competitor on the battlefield.
Dragapult is immune to Normal-type and Fighting-type moves, which makes him an incredibly powerful Pokémon. Furthermore, he has incredible statistics, which are as follows:

He is seen as a great Pokémon due to his movepool. Dragapult has access to several good special moves including shadow ball, fire blast, thunderbolt, and surf. Dragapult’s physical movepool is not quite as good though.
His only physical stab ghost moves are phantom force and astonish, both of which are quite disappointing. The physical movepool has access to dragon darts, psychic fangs, U-turn, dragon dance, and sucker punch, but it is not as good as Dragapult’s special movepool.
Therefore, Dragapult is considered a great Pokémon due to his special movepool. If you are using Dragapult in a battle, we recommend that you focus on using his special movepool instead of his physical and ghost movepool.
The chances are very high that you will succeed on the battlefield using his special movepool.
Dragapult’s weaknesses
Although Dragapult is a powerful Pokémon, he still has weaknesses. Since he is both a dragon and a ghost-type Pokémon, he receives more damage from the following moves:
- Ice
- Dragon
- Fairy
- Ghost
- Dark
However, Dragapult takes less damage from Fire, Grass, Electric, Water, Poison, Normal, Bug, and Fighting-type moves.
Best moveset for Dragapult in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Dragapult has several movesets, and the following movesets are considered better than others:

How to acquire Dragapult
Dragapult was first seen in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and you can also encounter him in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. If you are interested in collecting Dragapult in Pokémon Sword and Shield, you should note that he cannot be found in the wild.
To get Dragapult, you have to evolve a Dreepy into a Drakloak and then into a Dragapult. Dreepy is in the Lake of Outrage. To access this area, you have to unlock the bike upgrade, which allows you to cross water.
Keep in mind that Dreepy has a very low chance of spawning. In overcast weather, he has a percentage chance of spawning, but in a thunderstorm or fog, he has a 2 percent chance of spawning.
Once he reaches level 50, you can evolve it into a Drakloak. When the Drakloak reaches level 60, you can evolve it into Dragapult.
