PSO2 NGS: Crimson Realm

The Crimson Realm in PSO2: NGS allows players to stack different buffs in limited time trials to gain a PSE Burst

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis’ developer, Sega, regularly releases new content and features for players to enjoy.

The February 2024 update info revealed that gamers can now enjoy the Crimson Realm, though it is only active for a limited time.

According to the announcement, the weather turns into an ominous crimson haze and exclusive Trials take place, increasing the strength and rewards of Starless enemies.

Before, players had to defeat random mobs to fill up a bar and once it was filled, a Trial would commence during which you had to conquer a powerful enemy to obtain a PSE Burst.

However, the Crimson Realm changed this, as it consists of special trials which provide players with powerful buffs.

While fighting in the Crimson Realm, you will notice 3 new icons in the upper left corner of the game next to the mini map.

The highest icon essentially indicates that it is easier to fill up the bar and it is easier to proc a PSE Burst.

The ‘F,’ icon on the other hand, represents a guaranteed Forte, which means that whenever you receive a PSE Burst, it will be Forte. The “E” icon indicates your Encore effect.

Next to the new icons, you will notice a number which essentially displays the number of stacks you have.

Players should note that these effects can stack indefinitely, however, according to YouTuber Keroppi, the highest number of stacks he has witnessed is 2 of each stack.

When you receive a PSE Burst, it will consume one of your Forte stacks, however, when the Forte effect concludes, it will consume one of your Encore stacks.

We therefore recommend that players remain in the room, especially if they have multiple stacks of Forte and Encore.

Bosses

Allegedly, players will find the regular bosses in the new Crimson Realm, but Sega did introduce a new boss, known as Tyrant Dryverus. We therefore believe that you will have to face the following bosses:

Boss Description
Captans These foes appear in the Combat Sectors, but they only spawn on rare occasions.
Enhanced Enemies Enhanced Enemies are normal enemies and bosses that have been pierced by a mysterious object called an Enhancer, which allows them to enhance themselves.
Dread Enemies The veteran versions of these enemies have much higher HP and deal greater damage than trial versions of the same level.

How to procure Forte and Encore stacks

In order to obtain Forte and Encore stacks to get PSE Bursts, players must complete the new trials.

During a trial, you have to conquer specific bosses within a specific time limit, but there is no way to know which boss you will have to vanquish until the trial commences.

If your character dies during the trial, you will receive a penalty, but since it is similar to a normal combat zone, the chances of your character dying during the trial are fairly slim.

The bosses in these trials will not be able to one-shot your character in normal circumstances.

While the trial is active, you have to complete the side mission to either obtain a Forte or an Encore stack. That being said, there are some conditions that have to be met to complete the side mission, such as not being incapacitated.

Tyrant Dryverus

Sega introduced a new trial boss that players may have to defeat to acquire a Forte or an Encore stack.

Tyrant Dryverus is extremely tanky, but fortunately, you will have approximately 3 minutes to conquer him. This boss functions similarly to the other bosses, however, the reward upgrade is based on damage dealt.

Since it is a very DPS demanding fight, we recommend that you come up with a strategy on how you are going to destroy Tyrant Dryverus.

When the fight commences, we recommend that your entire team immediately perform a Photon Blast, as it will fill the bar quite quickly.

We also advise PSO2: NGS players to always attack the boss’s weak spot, which is its core, but you have to vanquish the orbs before Tyrant Dryverus will expose its core.

Rewards

In addition to receiving the Encore and Forte stacks for completing a trial, you will receive an abundance of rewards if you successfully defeat the boss within the time limit.

For example, if your group destroys Tyrant Dryverus, you will earn C/Spiro Triyal, C/Wardo Triyal, C/Guaro Triyal and C/Foundiax.

Keep in mind though that the number of capsules you earn depends on how many bars you filled during the trial.

If you only filled 1 bar, it is believed that you will receive 3 of C/Spiro Triyal, C/Wardo Triyal and C/Guaro Triyal. However, if you filled all the bars, you will get 15 of C/Spiro Triyal, C/Wardo Triyal and C/Guaro Triyal.

We therefore recommend that you attempt to fill up the bar entirely to receive the most rewards.
