STFC: Borg Cube Hostiles

STFC commanders can defeat specific hostiles to charge up their Borg Cube’s cutting beam at a faster pace.

The Borg Cube was introduced to Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) in early 2024, however, it functions unlike any other vessel in the game. It is worth noting that only players level 28 and higher can add the Borg Cube to their fleet.

When you have constructed the vessel, you can use its active ability, Cutting Beam, to vanquish enemies from the galaxy. Keep in mind that you have to charge the Cutting Beam ability before you can use it against enemies.

To charge the Borg Cutting Beam, you have to deal hull damage in normal combat situations with the Borg Cube. This means that you have to assign a crew to your Borg Cube and use it to deal hull damage to enemies.

Once the active ability is charged, Commanders can select the hostile that they wish to fire upon from anywhere in the same system.

After clicking on the hostile vessel, you have to select the Borg Cutting Beam Icon on the enemy pop-up menu to activate the Cutting Beam.

Since this ability is a key aspect of using the Borg Cube, several players have questioned which hostiles they have to attack to charge the active ability faster.

That being said, you can essentially deal hull damage to any enemy in the galaxy, but if you destroy specific hostiles, you will charge the Cutting Beam faster.

If you charging the beam faster, you will be able to attack enemies at a faster pace. This means that players can earn rewards much quicker.

Hostiles you should defeat

The hostile that you have to vanquish from the galaxy to charge your Cutting Beam at a faster pace is determined by the Borg Cube’s tier.

The following table lists the recommended enemies that you can defeat:

Cube tier Hostile System
2 Federation Patrol Inari (31)
4 Reman Bounty Hunter Vanir (36)
6 Jem’Hadar Cruiser Tediden (48)
8 Jem’Hadar Cruiser Tediden (48)
10 Baelosian Miner Agataylor (52)
11 Jem’Hadar Cruiser Had’met (54)
12 Jem’Hadar Cruiser Vefeeq (57)
13 Jem’Hadar Cruiser Dal Vor (59)
14 Frontier Raider Redreev (62)
15 Frontier Rader Har-52 (67)
16 Frontier Raider Wigg (69)
17 Frontier Raider Wigg (69)
18 Frontier Raider Wigg (69)

Borg Cutting Beam damage

The Borg Cube can deal damage to any ship without physically attacking it. Once you have charged it, you can select a vessel in the same system to deal direct hull damage to it.

It is noteworthy that the level and tier of the vessel determines the amount of base damage you deal. The table below lists the amount of damage that you can deal in each game mode:

Level Tier Base PvP Damage Base PvE Damage
5 1 23 0000 23 000
10 2 36 000 36 000
15 3 50 000 50 000
20 4 93 000 93 000
25 5 164 000 164 000
30 6 1.2 million 2.4 million
35 7 1.8 million 3.6 million
40 8 2.55 million 5.1 million

Rewards

It is clear that PvP and PvE are different game modes, which means that you will receive different rewards once your target is destroyed.

If you successfully destroy a PvE target using the Borg Cutting Beam, you will earn Technological Distinctiveness.

STFC: Technological Distinctiveness

Players can refine this new resource into Advanced Cybernetics or Shape Memory Alloy. Although some gamers believe that these items are not useless in STFC, they are extremely valuable.

This is because the Shape Memory Alloy and the Advanced Cybernetics are required to upgrade the Borg.

This means that the more targets you defeat with the Borg Cube, the stronger it will become.

How to obtain the Borg Cube

If you are yet to add the Borg Cube to your fleet, you may have to spend real money.

This is because all players level 28 and higher were able to procure the necessary blueprints to construct the Borg Cube by progressing in the free and elite tracks of the Update 60 battle pass.

The chances that Update 60’s Battle Pass is still active are fairly slim. This means that only players who are willing to spend real money in STFC will be able to obtain its blueprints.

Once you have acquired enough blueprints, you can upgrade it and use it to vanquish enemies in the vast galaxy.
