Scopely has yet to release an update for STFC’s Faction Lock feature in 2024, however, the reputation levels were updated in 2023.
Although Factions may seem like an insignificant feature in Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC), joining them can have a great effect on your gameplay.
Earning reputation points for your Factions will allow you to unlock unique vessels as well as other rewards.
In Factions like the Klingon, Romulan and the Federation, your reputation can decrease or increase, depending on your actions in the game.
For instance, if you decide to accept missions and tasks from the Klingon, but you have reputation points with the Federation, your reputation with the Federation will decrease.
If you lose enough reputation points with a specific Faction, you may no longer get any benefits from them.
We therefore recommend that Commanders only focus on earning reputation points for 1 Faction until they reach a Faction Lock.
Once you reach a Faction Lock, your reputation will not decrease below that amount. This gives players the opportunity to increase their reputation with other Factions without losing reputation with the Faction they are focused on.
In the Factions mentioned earlier, there are 3 reputation locks at 10 million points, 1 billion points and 15 billion points.
Commanders can therefore collect 10 million reputation points to reach a faction lock and then focus on obtaining reputation points for another Faction.
Alternatively, you can attempt to reach the 15 billion reputation lock before focusing on the other Factions. On the official STFC Discord server, several players have questioned whether Scopely has updated the Faction Lock feature in 2024.
A Commander named BarnOwl2525 revealed that the Faction Lock feature has yet to get an update.

Will Scopely update the Faction Lock feature?
Scopely regularly releases updates for STFC, however, they have yet to announce whether players can expect a Faction Lock update in the future or not.
At the time of writing, players still have to grind the reputation points to reach a Faction Lock.
We recommend that you regularly check the official STFC website, as well as the official social media platforms to stay up to date with the latest news.
There is a possibility that Scopely will release an update for the Faction Lock feature, however, it is unknown when the developer will announce the update and when it will be released.
Faction Lock update 2023
In December 2023, Scopely announced new reputation levels that players can reach once they have acquired enough reputation points in a specific Faction.
Prior to this update, the maximum number of reputation points that you were able to collect for a Faction was 15 billion, but this update revealed that players can now collect up to 500 billion reputation points with a specific Faction.
This means that you can reach several new levels with every Faction. The following table lists the ranges of the reputation points introduced in December 2023:
Level | Points range |
Legend II | 16 000 000 000 to 16 999 999 999 |

Hero | 500 000 000 000 to 500 000 000 500 |
How to obtain reputation points
To reach the next reputation level, you have to accumulate reputation points. There are different methods that you can use to gain reputation points, however, the quickest way to gain reputation point is by defeating hostiles in the galaxy.
To improve your Klingon rep, you have to vanquish Romulan enemies. However, to improve your Romulan reputation, you have to vanquish Federation hostiles from the systems.
Players who are interested in improving their Federation rep should defeat Klingons.
You can also purchase reputation in the away team store, though this is not recommended. The away team credits can be used to purchase vessel blueprints, so you should not use your credits to purchase reputation.
