There are 4 research nodes you can unlock in STFC to increase your vessels’ warp range, which enables them to travel to far away systems.
Your warp range in Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) ultimately determines which systems you can travel to.
Every system in the game has a minimum warp range and if your warp range is too low, you will not be able to travel to that system.
The higher your warp range is, the farther your vessels can travel in the galaxy. It is therefore crucial that you regularly increase your warp range.
Gamers can increase their warp range by assigning specific officers to vessels and unlocking specific research nodes.
The following table lists some of the research nodes that you can unlock to increase your warp range:
Name | Description |
Borg Cube Warp Range |
|
Prime Discovery Warp Range |
|
USS Discovery Warp Range |
|
Vi’dar Talios Warp Range |
|
As seen in the table, every Warp Range research node has a level requirement. If you are yet to reach the level requirement, you will not be able to unlock the node and increase your warp range.
However, you can assign specific officers to your fleet to increase your warp range.
Effects
Commanders should remember that each Warp Range research node will provide your fleet with unique effects. The effects for each research node are as follows:
Name | Effects |
Borg Cube Warp Range | Increases the warp range for the Borg Cube |
Prime Discovery Warp Range | Increases the warp range of the USS Discovery |
USS Discovery Warp Range | Increases the base warp range of the US Discovery |
Vi’dar Talios Warp Range | Increases the warp range of the Vi’dar Talios |
Upgrading the Research Nodes
It is crucial that you regularly upgrade the Warp Range Research Nodes to enhance their effects. But keep in mind that you need to obtain certain materials to upgrade each node:
Name | Upgrade materials required |
Borg Cube Warp Range |
|
Prime Discovery Warp Range |
|
USS Discovery Warp Range |
|
Vi’dar Talios Warp Range |
|
Officers that increase Warp Range
In addition to unlocking the warp range research nodes, you can assign specific officers to a vessel to increase its warp range.
STFC players can use Cadet Scotty, Ghrush and TOS Scotty to increase their fleet’s warp range.
To procure Ghrush, you have to participate in the Orion Syndicate activity, and players can obtain TOS Scotty when they reach level 30. To get Scotty, you have to pen as many standard recruiting packs as you can.
