In The Sims 4, teenagers can sneak out of the window to visit their friends, however, you have to build the EZ Exit Window.
The Sims 4 is a social simulation video game that focuses on character creation and house building tools. As the game’s name suggests, it is the fourth major title in The Sims series and hence, you are likely to experience similar gameplay and mechanics in the franchise.
Players can make choices and engage in an interactive environment in this game. Similarly to its predecessors, The Sims 4 has downloadable content (DLC) that gives players access to additional content.
Keep in mind that you generally have to purchase DLCs before you can enjoy its content. One of the DLCs you can purchase is High School Years, which allows your Sims to sneak out of the window.
High School Years
The Sims 4: High School Years is the twelfth expansion, which was released on all platforms in July 2022. The expansion focuses on high school life, and it allows you to control your teenage Sims while they are at school.
It also introduces the world of Copperdale, which was once a booming mining town. Copperdale is the only town that players can place active high school lots in. The expansion introduces new content to your gameplay.
You can experience the ups and downs of high school like never before, dance the night away at prom, celebrate your graduation, go through puberty, and be mischievous.
The Sims 4: Sneak out the window
The High School Years expansion has introduced new content and features with the focus on teenage Sims. You can experiment with teen lifestyles, post on social media, pull pranks at school, hang out in the cafeteria, and sneak out of the window.
Sneaking out is a time-honoured tradition among teenagers, and Sims are no different. Some Sim parents do not allow their adolescents to go out, but that does not stop them from hanging out with friends.
After accepting a hangout request from a friend, your teenage Sim gets a notification that says they have to find a way to go.
They can either ask for their parents’ permission to go or sneak out of the window. You must do a few things before your teenager can sneak out, namely, there must be at least 1 EZ Window on the lot. This window has to be usable from both sides, so that the teenager can use it to enter, and exit a room.
You can build a trellis that Sims can use to climb up or down if the house is on a foundation, or if the window is on the second story.
To sneak out, make sure you are controlling the teenage Sim before clicking anywhere on the ground, or on the EZ window so that the option to sneak out can appear.
You should lock the door before attempting to sneak out, as this increases the chances of sneaking out successfully. Moreover, you should make sure your Sim parents are preoccupied or sleeping. If your teenager is caught sneaking out, it will affect their mood.
After selecting the sneak out option, they will climb out of the window, stealthily walk around, and leave the lot.
How to build an EZ Window
You should note that your teenage Sim will not be able to sneak out of the house if you do not have an EZ Exit Window in your house. To build the window, enter “Build mode”, then select the “Windows” category.
The Sims 4 players can scroll through the list until they find the “EZ Exit Window.” You can place the window on any floor. However, if you decide to place it on one of the upper floors, be sure to place a trellis ladder there as well.
You also have to place something outside the window so that your Sim can step onto something when they are exiting. It is recommended that you build a terrace under the window, as the teenagers cannot go directly from the window to the ladder.
How to ask for permission
If you want your Sim to ask for permission, rather than sneaking out, you have to make sure that the older Sim is adopted as a caregiver. To ask for permission, you must be in control of the teenage Sim and click on the caregiver.
Then click on the “Ask for permission” tab. It is up to the caregiver to decide whether or not your teenage Sim will be allowed to go out.
Can Sims sneak out after curfew?
Although sneaking out of the house is a fun activity, your teenager Sims cannot sneak out after their curfew. Any Sim that sneaks out after curfew will simply disappear and you will not be able to control them. However, they will return after a few hours.
