WoW Creation Catalyst is known as Inspiration Catalyst in Dragonflight, but its function remains the same.
World of Warcraft (WoW) is a popular massively-multiplayer online role-playing game. It allows players to take control of a Warcraft hero to explore a vast open world.
Although there are several expansions of WoW, the basic content of the game remains the same. WoW recently revealed that Creation Catalyst will change to Inspiration Catalyst for Dragonflight.
WoW Dragonflight
Dragonflight is the ninth expansion of WoW, and it is set after the Shadowlands expansion. The expansion was announced in April 2022 and was released on 28 November 2022. The expansion introduces new quests, regions, classes, and mounts, amongst other things.
Keep in mind that you can only enjoy the new expansion if you purchase it on the official WoW website. The expansion costs around ＄53,73, but players do not have to purchase the expansion to enjoy WoW.
However, if you decide not to purchase the new expansion, you will not have access to the new content.
WoW: Dragonflight Creation Catalyst
Creation Catalyst is a system that allows players to convert Dragonflight season 1 non-set items of the appropriate slot into Primalist Tier Set Items of the same level.
It is important to note that the Creation Catalyst system is referred to as the Inspiration Catalyst system in the new expansion, Dragonflight.
Allegedly, the system will be added to Dragonflight in the week of 23 January 2023. Apparently it will be easier to manage with a more open-ended system in place.
The Inspiration Catalyst system has been introduced as “Bad luck protection” for players who, due to a random-number-generator, cannot complete their tier sets.
For the Inspiration Catalyst system to work, players have to provide a non-set Season 1 item piece of the appropriate slot.
Eligible items can be procured from the Incarnates raid, Mythic+ Dungeons, player-versus-player, Dragonflight World Bosses, and from the Valdrakken gear vendors amongst other things.
The applicable slot items include Helms, Cloaks, Chests, Shoulders, Gloves, Braces, Boots, Belts, and Legs. Moreover, only items that occupy Tier Set slots will be converted into set pieces. This means that the remaining slots are converted for transmogs.
If you complete the Inspiration Catalyst process, the item used to create a set piece will be consumed, which means that you will lose the item.
It is currently unknown where the Inspiration Catalyst’s vendor will be located in Dragonflight, however, players assume that it will be in Valdrakken, since it is the main city of Dragonflight.
What currency do you need?
The Inspiration Catalyst process requires a specific currency with which to change your gear. At the time of writing this, the currency has not been added to the game yet and the conversion costs remain unknown.
However, players should keep an eye on the official WoW website for official announcements.
The game’s developer, Blizzard, is likely to provide detailed information about Inspiration Catalyst, what currency is required, and how to acquire the currency before its official release.
It is likely that the Inspiration Catalyst currency will follow the same system as the Creation Catalyst currency. However, the method of acquisition will be exclusive to Dragonflight, which means that only players with the Dragonflight game can farm the currency.
Tier-set Bonuses and Item levels
Many WoW players have wondered if tier set bonuses will work on all items that are made with the Inspiration Catalyst.
Unfortunately, the 2-piece and 4-piece set bonuses will only be on Shoulders, Chests, Gloves, Legs, and Helms. Other slots will be converted to non-set items with different secondary statistics.
Players can use the conversion process on these items if they are not satisfied with the secondary statistics.
With regards to the item level, the resulting item level will be the same as the item that you put into the catalyst. This also means that Mythic, player-versus-player upgrade paths, tertiary statistics, and sockets will remain the same.
Inspiration Catalyst weekly quest and charges
Once the Inspiration Catalyst becomes available, players will get the opportunity to complete a weekly quest. This quest requires that you complete group content that will provide you with Catalyst-eligible items.
All characters on your account can contribute towards completing the quest. When you complete the quest, you will receive 1 charge to all current and future characters on your account.
Players can have a maximum of 6 charges per character and each of your characters can spend the charges individually.
