WoW: Kite pet

WoW players can claim a Dragon Kite pet by watching at least 4 hours of content from their favourite Twitch streamer.

World of Warcraft (WoW) is an exhilarating massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), which means that you can enjoy its content with players across the world.

The game allows you to create and control a character with which to explore the Warcraft regions, fight enemies, and complete quests.

While you are advancing in WoW, you will earn collectibles, including mounts, pets, combat pets, costumes, and toys, among other things. Bear in mind that to acquire these collectibles, you have to complete certain tasks or missions.

You should note that you can also acquire collectibles outside of WoW. Blizzard, the game’s developer, recently announced that you can collect the Dragon Kite pet by completing a specific activity.

Why can players obtain collectibles outside of the game?

Similarly to other role-playing titles, WoW motivates its players to engage with the game, even if they are not physically in the game. Blizzard will reward players with a collectible if they still engage with the game even when they are not playing it.

Keep in mind that you still have to complete a specific task or purchase a specific item in real life to claim the reward. For instance, Elder Scrolls Online motivated players to purchase a packet of Doritos in order to get a new mount.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II motivated players to purchase a meal at Burger King to get a Burger King t-shirt in the game.

WoW marketing strategies do not always require that players  purchase a real-life item to obtain a reward. Instead, sometimes you have to watch a streamer on Twitch play WoW for a certain period of time to claim the reward.

To claim the new Dragon Kite pet, you have to watch at least 4 hours of WoW: Dragonflight content on Twitch. It is noteworthy that at the time of writing this, there are only a few hours left to claim the pet.

The drop began on 15 November 2022, and it will conclude on 18 November 2022. If you missed the opportunity to claim the Kite pet, unfortunately, you will not be able to procure it otherwise.

In order to claim the reward, you have to meet certain requirements. Firstly, you must have a Twitch account to claim the drops. Secondly, you can only earn progress for a drop on 1 channel at a time.

Players must watch streamers that are currently streaming under the WoW directory and have drops enabled to qualify. You should not pause the stream as your progress will not be tracked when the stream is paused.

Moreover, you must connect your Twitch and Battle.net accounts to claim the drops. It is important that you do this before watching a stream, otherwise, you will watch the stream for 4 hours and not receive the reward.

Once you meet these requirements, you have to find a stream that you can get drops from. To do so, open the World of Warcraft game directory and find a stream with the “Drops enabled” tag.

Additional Twitch drops

As we get closer to the launch of Dragonflight, Blizzard wants to keep the spirit of epic adventure with Twitch drops. This is also a way for you to support your favourite WoW streamers. There are many opportunities to earn unique rewards, though some are only active for a limited time.

The rewards that you can claim by watching Twitch streamers are as follows:

Item When it is claimable Number of hours you have to watch the stream
Dragon Kite pet 15 November 2022 – 18November 2022 4 hours
Feldrake mount 28 November 2022 – 1 December 2022 4 hours
Perpetual Purple Firework toy 13 December 2022 – 28 December 2022 2 hours

Supporting a streamer

If you give 2 Twitch subscriptions to an eligible WoW Twitch streamer on 28 November 2022 and 12 December 2022, you will be rewarded with the adorable Ichabod harvest golem pet.

It is worth noting, however, that this is not mandatory, as gifting a subscription costs real-life money.

However, if you are interested in showing your support to your favourite WoW Twitch streamer, you can give them 2 subscriptions to get a unique pet which cannot be obtained otherwise.

How to link your Battle.net and your Twitch accounts

In order to claim the Twitch drops, players have to link their Battle.net and Twitch accounts. To do this, sign into your Battle.net account on the official website.

After signing in, you can open the “Connect” link for Twitch and follow the instructions to sign in and link your Twitch account to your Battle.net account.
