WoW players can procure a limited edition battle pet by completing the Primal Threat quest in the game.
In this well-renowned video game, World of Warcraft (WoW), players can take control of a character with which to explore a vast open world, fight horrific enemies, complete quests, acquire gear, and interact with non-player characters.
However, WoW is a massively multiplayer role-playing game, and therefore, you can enjoy its content with players across the globe.
The game was released in 2004, and it has since received 8 major expansions that introduced new content to the game. The ninth expansion, Dragonflight, is set for release on 28 November 2022.
Although it will be fully released on the 28th, WoW’s developer, Blizzard, has released pre-patch additions to the game.
WoW: Dragonflight
Dragonflight takes place after the eighth expansion, Shadowlands. It is set on the Dragon Isles, which is divided into 5 separate zones. The primary zones are Thaldraszus, Ohn’ahran Plains, The Azure Span, and the Walking Shores.
Once it is released, players can level up their characters to level 70, which is currently the maximum level in WoW. Moreover, you can enjoy a new user-interface, and new talent tree systems.
It is important to note that players have to purchase the Dragonflight expansion in order to enjoy its content. If you decide not to purchase the expansion, you will not get access to the new zones, quests, or other content.
WoW: Primal Threat
Phase 2 of the Dragonflight pre-patch event launched on 15 November 2022, which has stirred a lot of pre-launch excitement.
There are numerous things that you can do while waiting for the launch of the new expansion, and of course, that means that there are new collectibles and rewards to earn.
A new battle pet called Primal Storming is available for the next 2 weeks, and fortunately, it is quite easy to obtain. It is advisable that you get it while you can.
When you log into WoW during phase 2, you will automatically receive a quest on any character that is at least level 10. Horde characters have to talk to Ebyssian, and Alliance characters have to go see Wrathion.
You can find the non-player-character in your faction’s capital city. Speaking to them will then either send you to the harbour of Orgrimmar or Stormwind, depending on your character’s faction. After talking to the NPC at the harbour, you will unlock the quests for the Primal Storm events.
Moreover, Khadgar will appear through a portal, and he will offer you the A Primal Threat quest. When you complete the quest, you will receive the Primal Storming battle pet.
A Primal Threat requires that you procure 10 Motes of Primal Energy from enemies in active Primal Storm locations. These storms are marked on the map, but they rotate every couple of hours. You can find the Primal Storms in the following areas:
- Badlands
- Tirisfal Glades
- Un’Goro Crater
- Northern Barrens
Procuring the 10 Motes is extremely easy, as they have a high drop rate, and they can be looted from any Primalist enemy that is killed in the location. Once you have all 10, you have to talk to Khadgar for your reward.
Primal Stormling abilities
Since Primal Storming is a battle pet, it has several abilities. It is essential to note that you have to increase the pet’s level to unlock additional abilities. Each of its abilities and a description of each are:
Skill name | Required level | Description |
Wild Winds | 1 | This shard wind gust deals 18 Flying damage instantly and 4 Flying damage every round for 2 rounds |
Bash | 2 | The pet stuns the target for 1 round |
Sandstorm | 4 | This ability deals 45 Flying damage and turns the weather into a sandstorm for 5 rounds. In this phase, all pets take 5 points less damage and their accuracy is reduced by 10 percent |
Slicing Wind | 10 | It attacks the enemy with 1 to 3 blades of wind |
Wind Buffet | 15 | The pet deals 10 Flying damage and forces the opponent’s lowest health pet to swap into battle |
Call Lightning | 20 | This ability deals 45 Mechanical damage and causes a Lightning Storm for 5 rounds. During the storm, all pets deal 2 bonus Mechanical damage and Mechanical abilities deal 25 percent additional damage |
Will the pet be added to WoW permanently?
Unfortunately, players can only complete the quest and claim the battle pet until 28 November. It is thus recommended that you complete the quest as soon as possible, as the pet will be removed from the game when Dragonflight launches.
Are there different Primal Storms?
While completing A Primal Threat, you may notice that there are 4 types of Primal Storms – earth, fire, storm, and water storms. Each storm comes with specific mobs and environmental hazards that you must tackle.
