Evony recently revealed that players are able to ascend specific Purple Generals and assign them to the Senate to unlock buffs.
Evony: The King’s Return regularly updates the game to ensure that players have the best gaming experience. On Friday, 16 February 2024, Evony announced a feature update which introduced new enhancements and optimizations.
Before, players were only able to ascend Generals that have a red border in the Portrait menu of the Tavern building. However, this update revealed that players can now ascend a few Purple Generals.
These Generals are generally very effective against bosses on the world map. If you ascend the Purple Generals, you will eventually increase their rarity to Orange.
Shortly after the announcement was made, numerous Monarchs discovered that they could assign their newly-ascended Purple Generals to their Council of State’s Senate menu to unlock additional buffs.
Allegedly, assigning a Purple General to a Senate requires gold, gems and a lot of patience.
You can therefore unlock the Senate buffs without using Blood of Ares, which is used to ascend a General which meets all the ascension requirements.
You can only apply a Purple General who specializes in ground and mounted troops in your Senate.
Several Monarchs thought that this addition to the game was a mechanical error or a bug, which essentially means that it will eventually be removed from the game.
However, according to YouTuber, Gaming Addicts with Genghis, Blood of Ares is no longer going to be the biggest item that Evony will sell. Evony is reportedly going to phase out the Blood of Ares item.
Gaming Addicts with Genghis mentioned that Evony will either become easier to acquire or the developers will adjust the item so that players will not need it as much as they currently do.
Which Generals are now available for Ascension?
The update revealed that only 3 Purple Generals are able to go through the Ascension process. Several players believe that Evony will introduce additional Purple Generals that can be ascended in the near future.
However, currently, you can only ascend the following Purple Generals:

| Cleopatra | The last active pharaoh of Ptolemaic Egypt, shortly survived as pharaoh by her son, Caesarion. She specializes in Mounted Troops. |
Do you need Blood of Ares to ascend these Purple Generals?
According to the announcement, Ascending Legendary Historic Generals does not consume the Blood of Ares, however, it still requires a certain number of Historic General Token Fragments.
Monarchs should note that it must be a fragment of the General that they wish to ascend.
The quickest way to gain fragments is by Perfectly Dismissing duplicate generals that you have in your collection. However, this process costs approximately 10 000 Gems and it will reward you with 30 fragments of that General.
Although this is the quickest way, obtaining duplicate generals can be quite difficult and you will have to rely on luck when you purchase packs, spinning the wheel of fortune to visit the Tavern to see which Generals are available.
There are also regular events that you can enjoy to get a specific General, but keep in mind that all these methods require a lot of effort if you are not willing to spend any money.
How to assign a Purple General to your Senate
The Council of State is one of the various buildings that you can construct in your empire, but you will only unlock it when your Keep reaches level 32.
This building allows you to unlock various buffs, which you can procure by upgrading each of the 3 elements; Military Title, Position and Generals.
To assign a Purple General to your Senate, click on your Council of State and select the Senate option.
You can then select one of 3 titles, namely Governor, Commander or Marshal. Evony players can then assign one of their Purple Generals to a title to unlock buffs.
It is crucial that you assign the General who specializes in Mounted Troops to the Mounted Troop position to unlock the buffs.
How to acquire Purple Generals
If you are yet to collect one of the Purple Generals that can be ascended, we recommend that you check the Tavern regularly to see when they are available.
The Generals available for purchase reset on a regular basis, however, you can use your Gems to reset the available Generals.
If they become available, you have to purchase them with a specific amount of gold, as outlined below:
