During Evony’s Huns Invasion event, players can open Ancestral Chests to earn Rune Words, which will provide your army with numerous buffs.
Evony: The King’s Return hosts in-game events regularly and players are now able to participate in Huns Invasion. During this event, you can team up with other players to conquer monsters on a battlefield.
If you defeat the monsters, there is a chance that you can obtain an Ancestral Chest, which can be opened to earn Rune Words.
This event item can be equipped to unlock a variety of buffs and bonuses that you will receive during the battles.

It is important to note that every Rune Word has a specific drop rate, which determines your chances of obtaining the Rune:
Rune Word | Drop Rate |
Blade Edge | 20% |
Destruction Edge | 4.75% |
Pierce Edge | 0.12% |
Counter Edge | 20% |
Multi-Edge | 4.75% |
Raid Edge | 0.12% |
As seen in the table, your chances of obtaining a Blade Edge are much higher than obtaining a Raid Edge.
That being said, Raid Edge’s effects are much more valuable than Blade Edge’s bonus, which explains why it is so difficult to acquire.
Rune Words Effects
There are numerous Rune Words that you can acquire by opening an Ancestral Chest. Keep in mind, however, that every Rune has unique effects:
Rune Word | Effects |
Blade Edge |
|
Destruction Edge |
|
Pierce Edge |
|
Counter Edge |
|
Multi-Edge |
|
Raid Edge |

How to equip a Rune Word
Once you have acquired a Rune Word from an Ancestral Chest, you can equip it to unlock its effects.
Keep in mind that you will only receive the effects when you are on the Huns Invasion Battlefield. To equip a Rune, open the event menu.
On the event menu, you will discover 2 slots next to the Ancestral Chest icon.
Evony players can equip their Rune Word in one of these slots, as you can only have 1 Rune Word active at a time. Monarchs can change their Rune Word at any time.
Will Rune Words be removed from the game?
Since Rune Words are part of the Huns Invasion event, they will be removed from the game when the event concludes.
Speaking of which, the event will end in approximately 1 day and 21 hours, which means that you have until Saturday, 9 March 2024 to enjoy the Rune Words’ buffs.
