PSO2 NGS: Captan

One of the enemies you can farm in PSO2: NGS is Captan, which allegedly drops Special Ability Capsules.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (PSO2: NGS) is an adventurous, popular role-playing game set on the fictional planet of Halpha.

As its name suggests, PSO2: NGS is based on the classic video game, Phantasy Star Online 2. Since it was released 10 years after its predecessor, it features updated gameplay, graphics, and content.

The game takes place approximately a thousand years after the Oracle events. In NGS, players are invited to become part of Artificial Relict to Keep Species (ARKS). However, you first have to create and customise your own character.

As you advance in the game, you will get the opportunity to enjoy various activities, defeat different monsters and obtain a range of gear sets.

Enemy types

The game has many enemies and monsters for you to defeat, and you will receive amazing rewards when you defeat an enemy. Below are some of the enemies you can find and conquer in the game:

Enemy type Description

Berserk enemies

Though they resemble normal enemies in size and appearance, a Corrupted Core is attached to their body. This means they are stronger than normal, but you can receive rarer loot by defeating them.

Rare enemies

They look different than normal enemies, and the background music sometimes changes when they appear on screen.

Boss enemies

Boss enemies possess higher health points, attack, and defence than other enemy types. If players can defeat them, they earn a Boss Enemy-specific item.

PSO2 NGS: Captan

The game’s developer, Sega, occasionally introduces new content to keep players interested and engaged in PSO2:NGS. They recently added a new enemy, called Captan, to the game for players to defeat and receive rewards.

Captan was introduced during NGS’ first Anniversary Event, during which it spawned as a Trial in all Sectors. Once defeated, a Captan allegedly drops Special Ability Capsules such as the Mastery Series, otherwise known as Master Augments.

Although it is an event enemy, it will continue to spawn in the game when the event concludes. There are numerous methods you can use to farm Captan enemies, however, the simplest method is zone exploration.

Players can go to any exploration zones in the game, such as West Retem, which usually attracts many other players, this way you can clear the Trials extremely quickly.

Once the Captan spawns, you should let other players in the area know, in order to team up with them and defeat it together. This is regarded as the common etiquette of this farming method, as all players can benefit from its loot.

Alternatively, players can run the Dazzling Chaos suppression operation repetitively as there is a chance that a Captan will spawn when the stella pack falls down. However, the most efficient way to farm Captans is in combat zones.

For this method, you should run rank 1 Retem Alnothe, with multiple people in different rooms, but it is recommended that you secure your room with a password. Rank 1 is fairly easy, so you can complete it by yourself. In the rooms, players should clear the Trials as quickly as possible.

There is a chance that a Captan will spawn in your room, but since you are running with a party in several rooms, these chances are higher. If the enemy spawns in one of your party members’ rooms, you can travel to their room and defeat the enemy.

Augments

As you progress in the game, you will come across various Augments. Augments are enchantments that can be slotted to weapons and units to increase their statistics. In NGS, Augments can be allocated to equipment using Augment Capsules.

Players should note that if they are using one Capsule for equipment, there is a significantly low chance of successfully affixing to the equipment. However, if they use multiple copies of the same capsule, players can increase the success rate for that Augment.

Every piece of equipment, including weapons, has an Augment limit cap, which determines how many Augments can be slotted to the item.

Drill: Dazzling Chaos Suppression Operation

The Dazzling Chaos Suppression Operation is a limited time quest that players could pick up during PSO2:NGS‘ first anniversary event. The quest did not require battle triggers, meaning that players could take on the quest as often as they wanted to while it was active.

For the quest, players could defeat enemies from Retem and Aelio and they had to pick up a 5-star rarity Dark Elemental weapon from the new Obscura series to take down seasonal elements. Furthermore, they had to pack in the Dark Exploit I Augment for maximum impact.

Retem Alnothe

Retem Alnothe is a combat area that can hold up to 8 players, but it has a recommended battle of between 1363 and 1633. The enemies in the zone have ranging levels, however, the minimum level is 20.
