PSO2 NGS: Weapons

PSO2: NGS features different types of weapons that you can discover, however, some weapons may be better than others.

Players are invited to put their strategic abilities to the test in this immersive video game, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (PSO2: NGS).

Although the game is an updated version of the classic video game, Phantasy Star Online 2, it has different gameplay, content, and graphics.

The game is set on a fictitious planet called Halpha, a thousand years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2. You can assume the role of a Meteorn that is part of the Artificial Relict to Keep Species (ARKS) military force.

It is your responsibility to defeat a new enemy, DOLLS, but you first have to obtain weapons and gear to do this.

Why are weapons and gear important?

Players will acquire varying types of weapon and gear sets as they advance in the game. Every set has unique abilities, as some can increase your character’s statistics, while others can provide you with a buff.

It is worth keeping in mind that some weapons and gear are more powerful than others, depending on their rarity, abilities, and buffs.

The main purpose of gear and weapons is to increase your character’s strength, to protect them from damage, and to deal damage to enemies. You cannot clear content or advance in the game without weapons and equipment.

PSO2 NGS: Weapons

Even if weapons seem like a simple aspect of the game to you, they actually play a crucial role in the game. There are different types of weapons you can get in the game, but you should note that every type of weapon has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Furthermore, every weapon can deal a certain amount of damage to enemies, however, the damage dealt can be increased as the weapon is upgraded and improved.

It is noteworthy that upgrading weapons costs specific resources that can be acquired from the in-game shop or from overland farming. Certain weapons have requirements, which essentially means that they have to be on a specific level before they can equip a certain weapon.

Players should be aware that the weapons are divided into ranging star-rankings. It can thus be said that a 1-star weapon is regarded as an entry level weapon and it is mostly used for early-game content.

A 5-star weapon, on the other hand, is considered the best in the game, which means that you can easily clear endgame content with this weapon equipped.

It is recommended that you equip stronger weapons as you advance in the game. This is because the game’s content increases in difficulty as you reach higher levels. Hence, you will need a stronger weapon that can clear the game’s content and defeat powerful enemies.

There are different types of weapons in the game, and you can acquire the following weapons:

  • Wands
  • Talises
  • Rods
  • Bullet Bows
  • Twin Machine Guns
  • Launchers
  • Assault Rifles
  • Katanas
  • Knuckles
  • Double Sabers

8-star weapons

All the weapons in PSO2: NGS have a star ranking, so the weapon can be ranked from 1-star to 8-star. A 1-star weapon is quite basic, and you should only use it in the early phase of the game as it is not very powerful.

8-Star weapons on the other hand, are considered the best in the game and should be used once you have gained higher levels. 1-star weapons are easier to acquire than weapons with higher star rankings.

PSO2: NGS’ developer, Sega, recently introduced 8-star weapons to the game. In the new region, Stia, you can get several 8-star weapons. Players can acquire the Primm Libra by participating in the Stia Expedition preparation.

You can also get Effulgent weapons, which are the fire Elemental weapons. These weapons are a rare drop in the Stia region.

Moreover, players can procure the Kouklophis weapons by exchanging their Infernium, which is a rare new mineral that can be found in Stia.

The last 8-star weapon series, Gunblaze, is a rare drop from Recon Gigas, which means that you may have to defeat enemies before you can acquire it. However, you can also procure it by completing purple Battledia missions in the Stia region.

All the 8-star weapons have unique effects and statistics, thus, it can be difficult to choose which one to get. If you are a casual gamer, it is recommended that you use the Kouklophis weapons.

However, if you are a serious gamer, you should attempt to get the Gunblaze weapon series.

Multi-weapon

Multi-weapon is a system that allows players to merge 2 weapons from the same series in order to use both weapon actions, normal attacks, and Photon Arts in a single Weapon Palette.

You can unlock this feature during the Main Story Task, An Abundance of Caution. Before you start, you have to select a Base and a Material weapon.

You should bear in mind that when you select a Base weapon, its attributes, as well as its Potential and Colour Variant, will be shared with the weapon you combine it with.
