There are various crews that you can use to defeat Borg Probe hostiles in STFC, however, low-level players and high-level players should use different crews.
The objective of Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) is to expand your fleet by constructing vessels and collecting officers. You should also complete missions, defeat powerful enemies and participate in limited-time events.
One of the enemy types that you can encounter is the Borg Tactical Probes and although you can use any crew to vanquish them, this is not advisable.
This is because some crew combinations are better equipped to defeat the Borg Tactical Probes than others.
The crews that you can use, however, depend on your current level. This means that lower-level players should use different crews than the higher-level players.
It also depends on the officers that you have in your collection, and fortunately, there are various crew combinations that you can use to defeat the Borg Tactical Probes.
The recommended crews for the Borg Probe Crews are as follows:
Level category | Crews |
Low-level players |
|
High-level players |
|
Players can choose the crews they want to use against the Borg Tactical Probe. Keep in mind however that some crews mentioned in the table will still perform better than others.
We therefore recommend that you experiment with every crew combination to see which crew works best.
Where you can find the Borg Probes
Once you have assigned your crew to your vessel, you have to travel to specific systems to find the Borg Probes. The table below lists the systems in which the hostiles spawn:

Which vessel should you use?
In order to defeat the Borg Probe hostiles, Commanders have to use the Vi’dar. Even though the Vi’dar events and missions are available for players of different levels to complete, your Shipyard has to be at least level 25 to construct the vessel.
Players have to participate in Borg-themed events to earn the Vi’dar’s blueprints. Alternatively, you can purchase packs with real money to obtain the blueprints.
You can either purchase a pack that contains all the blueprints required to build the ship, or a pack which contains half the number of blueprints needed to build the ship.
Once you have obtained enough blueprints, you can construct the vessel and add it to your fleet. Keep in mind that you have to increase the ship’s tier to enhance its capabilities.
If you are yet to construct the Vi’dar, you can use any interceptor in your fleet to destroy the Borg Probe hostiles.
Nanoprobes
Every Borg Probe hostile that you defeat will drop Inert Nanoprobes, which can be refined in your Borg Refinery.
Players are able to choose whether they want to refine their Inert Nanoprobes for Active Nanoprobes or for Charged Nanoprobes.
Commanders can use their Active Nanoprobes to promote their Borg Officers. If you promote an officer, you enhance its capabilities and increase its statistics. This essentially means that your officers will become stronger.
However, if you choose to refine your Inert Nanoprobes into Charged Nanoprobes, you can upgrade your Vi’dar.
Upgrading your ship will make it more powerful, which essentially means that you will be able to annihilate stronger enemies.
Alternatively, you can use your Charged Nanoprobes to purchase Faction Reputation and Credits in the Event Store.
Should you defeat the Borg Probes?
Although there are various missions, events and activities that you do not have to complete in STFC, defeating the Borg Probes is not one of these.
We recommend that all STFC players who meet the requirements destroy as many Borg Probe hostiles as possible, as this is the only way to obtain Inert Nanoprobes.
This resource can help you advance in the game, since it can be used to upgrade your ship and promote your officers.
