STFC players have to participate in weekly PvP events to earn enough Seals of Ko’tal to unlock a new exclusive research node.
Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) recently got a major update which introduced new content that you can enjoy.
Commanders level 20 and higher can now construct the War Room to obtain significant rewards for themselves as well as for their Alliances.
By engaging in the player-versus-player mode, your Alliance will accumulate the points needed to earn Warchest Keys.
Once you have enough keys, you can open the chest and receive your reward. One of the rewards that players can earn is Seals of Ko’tal.

These seals will help you unlock the exclusive Tactical Warmonger Research Node, which is in your Combat Tree of the Research menu.
If you research this node, you will increase the amount of base Weapon Damage that you deal when fighting other players.
On the official STFC Discord channel, several players have questioned how many Seals of Ko’tal are required to unlock the new exclusive node. Allegedly, you need to obtain 100 Seals to unlock the node.
This essentially means that you need to participate in 100 weekly PvP events to research the node. However, if you are willing to spend real money in STFC, you can purchase additional Seals of Ko’tal from the in-game store.
Tactical Warmonger effects
Researching the Tactical Warmonger node, you will increase your base Weapon Damage against players. However, this node has 3 different levels and with every level that you upgrade the node to, the bonus will increase.
The table below indicates the Tactical Warmonger’s effects per level:
Tactical Warmonger’s level | Effects |

Do you have to unlock the Tactical Warmonger node?
It is clear that free-to-play Commanders will have to participate in 100 weekly events to get enough Seals of Ko’tal to unlock the new research node.
Players who are not willing to spend money in STFC therefore have to farm the Seals for more than 2 years before they can unlock the node.
Fortunately, it is not mandatory to participate in the weekly PvP event and players can continue to enjoy STFC as normal without unlocking the research node.
Rewards
Once you have enough War Keys, you can open a Warchest to earn a variety of rewards. In addition to the Seals of Ko’tal, you can earn the following items:
- Parsteel
- Tritanium
- Dilithium
- Refined Ore
- Refined Gas
- Refined Crystal
- Ship parts
- Emblems of Honor
