In STFC’s new Wave Defense activity, you have to defeat numerous enemies, however, you can only do so in specific systems.
Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) is an explorative mobile game which invites players to assume the role of a Commander. You can explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and boldly go where no one has gone before.
A recent STFC update introduced the Wave Defense mode, but it can only be found in specific systems.
Wave Defense Systems
On Tuesday, 5 December 2023, Scopely released update 61, which introduced a lot of new content to the game.
Wave Defense is a new activity which requires that you team up with other players to progress through different levels of enemies. This activity can only be enjoyed in specific systems.
Commanders can find these systems to the west of the level 7 system, Maluria. Keep in mind that there are certain requirements that must be met before you can enjoy the new mode.
You have to be at least level 30 to participate in the Borg Research Lab Wave Defense Mode, while the S31 Covert Base requires that players are level 40.
The Wave Defense systems are listed below:
Borg Research Lab | S31 Covert Base |

Starting a Wave Defense activity
In order to start a Wave Defense activity, you have to ensure that both ships that you intend to use are docked.
You can then select one of the above-mentioned systems to teleport your first ship to, and once you are in the system, you can summon your second ship.
Unfortunately, there are no warp paths to these systems. The leader of your team will be the first Commander in the system to start the Wave Defense 10-minute countdown. When the whole team is in the system, the team leader can start the activity.
When the activity begins, every Commander will have their Section 31 Ciphers removed from their inventory.
Keep in mind that the system will lock when the activity commences, which means that there will be no way to warp to the system that you are in, and you cannot warp out of the system.
Credits
For every wave that you complete during the Wave Defense activity, you will receive a specific number of credits. However, the number of credits that you will receive depends on the system that you are in.
The following table lists the amount of credits you will earn:
Wave | Borg Research Lab | S31 Covert Base |
2 | 120 Credits | 200 Credits |
4 | 155 Credits | 270 Credits |
6 | 590 Credits | 1010 Credits |
8 | 355 Credits | 605 Credits |
10 | 1100 Credits | 1880 Credits |
Which enemies do you have to defeat?
Although there are different systems that you can travel to for the Wave Defense activity in STFC, the enemies will remain the same.
While progressing in the activity you can encounter Federation Explorers, Klingon Destroyers, Romulan Battleships and Actian Explorers.
You also have to defeat Swarm Destroyers, Borg Battleships, Texas-class Invaders and Delta Quadrant Bioships.
