Diablo 4: Mucus-Slick Eggs

One of the items that Diablo 4 players can acquire is Mucus-Slick Eggs which can be used to summon one of the endgame bosses, Duriel.

Diablo 4 is the ultimate action role-playing adventure game as it invites players to fight the forces of Hell.

There are countless abilities that you can master, legendary loot to procure, and nightmarish dungeons filled with unique enemies to explore.

Mucus-Slick Eggs

The game’s developer, Blizzard, recently released season 2. This season introduced new questlines, new enemies to vanquish and new areas to explore.

One of the new endgame bosses that you can defeat is the King of Maggots, which also known as Duriel.

Players should note that the King of Maggots is one of the toughest new bosses to defeat. Before you can defeat this boss, you have to acquire his summoning materials.

Although his summoning material farm is not quite as annoying as those of other bosses, it is still a lot of work as you need to acquire 2 materials instead of one.

One of the summoning materials that you have to collect is Mucus-Slick Eggs. Unfortunately, this item can only be obtained by vanquishing the Echo of Varshan, who also requires summoning materials.

To summon this boss, you have to acquire Malignant Body Parts. To summon Varshan on World Tier 3, you need to a Gurgling Head, Blackened Femur and Trembling Hand.

If you are playing on World Tier 4, you have to acquire the same objects and a Malignant Heart.

Once you have these materials, you can summon Varshan and earn a Mucus-Slick Egg, but you need 2 Eggs to summon Duriel. This means that you may need to defeat Varshan multiple times to obtain 2 Mucus-Slick Eggs.

How to acquire Malignant Body Parts

Players can complete Whispers of the Dead activities and defeat Grotesque Debtors to acquire Malignant Body Parts. However, you can also craft the items required to summon Varshan, who drops Mucus-Slick Eggs.

The table below lists how you can craft the items:

Material Resources required to craft

  • Gurgling Head
  • Abstruse Signal
  • 5 Veiled Crystals
Malignant Body Cache 2
  • Trembling Hand
  • Baleful Fragment
  • 5 Veiled Crystals
Malignant Body Cache 3

  • 4 Coiling Wards
  • 15 Veiled Crystals
Gurgling Head
  • Malignant Heart
  • 4 Abstruse Sigils
  • 15 Veiled Crystals
Trembling Hand
  • Malignant Heart
  • 4 Baleful Fragments
  • 15 Veiled Crystals

Shards of Agony

Once you have collected Mucus-Slick Eggs, you also have to acquire Shards of Agony to summon the King of Maggots. Players can get Shards of Agony by conquering Grigoire in the Hall of the Penitent of Torment World Tier.

However, you need to procure 5 Living Steal to summon this boss, which means that you have to open 2 Tortured Gift of Living Steel chests in Helltides.

This will cost you approximately 600 Aberrant Cinders. Reportedly, players can acquire the Living Steel in a single Helltide as every chest yields 3 Living Steel.

Once you have Living Steel, you can vanquish Grigoire to obtain Shards of Agony.

How to use Mucus-Slick Eggs

Players can use Mucus-Slick Eggs along with Shards of Agony to summon the level 100 endgame boss, Duriel.

When you have procured 2 Eggs and 2 Shards, you can travel to the Gaping Crevasse dungeon, which can be found in southern Kehjinstan.

Once you are inside the dungeon, you will find the Pestilent Altar and by interacting with it, you can place the items on the altar and summon Duriel.

Players should note that they need to farm the summoning materials every time they want to defeat Duriel.

This means that if you die during the fight, you need to collect the summoning materials again before you can try to destroy Duriel.

How to defeat Duriel

After interacting with the Pestilent Altar, Duriel will spawn, and you have to vanquish him to earn rewards.

Before attempting the fight, we recommend that you optimize your build and gear for maximum survivability. This means that you should not focus on your damage output, but rather on survivability.

When the fight begins, Duriel will spawn adds, which you have to vanquish as soon as possible as they fire poison projectiles which can deal massive damage. As the fight progresses, you will notice holes on the ground.

Diablo 4 players must maintain a safe distance from these holes to avoid enemy attacks. Furthermore, we recommend that you use Elixirs of Poison Resistance as most of Duriel’s attacks inflict poison.

Lastly, we recommend that you do not reset the dungeon, even if you die.

To spawn the boss again, you can simply return to the boss room to summon Duriel again.

Resetting the dungeon will despawn the boss, which means that you have to acquire Mucus-Slick Eggs and Shards of Agony again to summon him.
