Elden Ring: Crucible Knight

Although the Crucible Knights in Elden Ring are optional bosses, we advise you to attempt to defeat them to get amazing loot.

Elden Ring invites players to control a customisable character on a journey to repair the titular Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord. The game has 6 main areas that you can explore.

Keep in mind that every area features unique enemies of different levels for you to defeat. One of the enemies that you can defeat is the Crucible Knight, which is a Field Boss.

Bosses in Elden Ring

It is important to note that bosses are powerful enemies that add challenging experiences to the game. They are stronger than normal enemies, and therefore, it is more difficult to vanquish them.

Players will encounter bosses throughout the game in both the overworld and inside traditional dungeon-style levels.

Some bosses must be fought and defeated to advance in the storyline, however, most bosses are optional. However, it is recommended that you attempt to defeat every boss, as each boss features a unique set of moves, gear, and various weaknesses.

If you defeat a boss, you will be rewarded with large quantities of runes and many bosses yield  rare and completely unique magics, armor, and armaments amongst other items.

Elden Ring: Crucible Knight

One of the Field Bosses that you can defeat in Elden Ring is the Crucible Knight. These heavily-armored warriors take a lot of patience and practice to defeat.

Players should note that the Crucible Knight is an optional boss and it does not influence the game’s main questlines.

According to the Crucible Knight Set, there used to be 16 Crucible Knights and indeed, exactly 16 of them can be fought around the Lands Between. However, 2 of them have died and can now only be fought post mortem in spirit form.

The Crucible Knight is potentially the first Evergaol boss that gamers will encounter in Elden Ring. Evergaols function as prisons that trap optional bosses that you can find across the Lands Between.

Although the Crucible Knight is one of the first bosses you will find, it is considered the most difficult boss to fight.

The knight hits hard, has a ton of poise, and has some wide area-of-effect (AoE) attacks during his second phase. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you fight this boss at a later stage.

However, if you want to defeat the boss in the early stages of the game, you should use a shield that can parry along with the hardest-hitting weapon that you own.

The boss has 2 attack phases, but the second phase will only commence once the boss has lost about half of his health points.

The Crucible Knight is fairly slow, which you can use to your advantage. Players should come up with a strategy before they attempt to defeat this boss.

The armor is in Auriza Hero’s Grave, which is a dungeon located in the eastern Capital Outskirts. Furthermore, you need a Stonesword Key to enter the dungeon.

In order to earn the set, you have to navigate the dungeon, where you have to defeat the double boss at the end of the dungeon. Players must defeat Crucible Knight Ordovis and a lesser Crucible Knight.

After you conquer this difficult fight, you will be rewarded with the Crucible Axe Armor Set.

Crucible Knight weakness

Although the Crucible Knights are very difficult to defeat, they have several weaknesses that you can use to your advantage.

The Crucible Knight shield blocks all magic and physical attacks. However, they are weaker, or more vulnerable, to physical-type damage and lightning.

In order to defeat the Crucible Knight quicker, you have to ensure that you deal physical damage and use lightning magic. The enemy is strong against all elemental damage and has immunity to Haemorrhage. Therefore, you should avoid these attacks.

If you familiarise yourself with a Crucible Knight’s attacks, you will discover that its attacks are relatively slow. This means that you can easily counter him between  attacks. Moreover, you can also use parry if you are good with your timing.

Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior

Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior is a duo boss fight in Elden Ring. Payers can attempt to defeat these powerful warriors in the Redmane Castle Plaza.

The fight starts with the Misbegotten Warrior, but as soon as its health is below 50 percent, the Crucible Knight joins the fight.

Keep in mind that when you first visit the Plaza, you will not be able to find the duo as the Radahn Festival is active. After defeating Starscourge Radahn, the duo appears in the Plaza.

During the fight, it is  advisable that you use physical slash damage and fire damage, as the duo is weak to it. When you have defeated both bosses, you will be rewarded with 16 000 Runes and the Ruins Greatsword, which is a Legendary Weapon in Elden Ring.

Crucible Knight Ordovis

As mentioned earlier, there are 16 Crucible Knights for you to defeat, one of which is Crucible Knight Ordovis. He is a heavy and large knight that wields a Greatsword and a shield, however, he has the ability to materialise wings and fly.

Players can find this boss at the end of Auriza Hero’s Grave. The boss is vulnerable to a critical hit after being stance broken or parried.

However, the boss is unaffected by the Bewitching Branch. Once you have defeated the boss, you will receive Ordovis’ Greatsword, Crucible Axe Helm, Crucible Axe Armor, Crucible Gauntlets, and Crucible Greaves.

Strategies for defeating Crucible Knights

Although the Crucible Knights are optional bosses, it is advisable that you defeat them as they drop amazing items.

Most character builds have to rely on dodging and managing your distance to beat the boss, but melee builds will have a slightly easier time with this fight.

You should definitely use tanky Spirit Ashes for the Crucible Knights, such as Lhutel the Headless or Mimic Tear if you are a tank.

The latter is extremely helpful for the duo boss fights, as you need to keep the heat off of yourself, and the Mimic Tear is good at sustaining aggro.

Furthermore, we advise you to use the Bloodflame Blade spell on your weapon to increase your damage output. Moreover, you can  mix Opaline Bubbletear in your Wondrous Physick to increase your defence.

You should also consider using Bloodhound’s Fang or the Black Knife as weapons, as their special skills can help tremendously in this fight. Moreover, you should obtain a shield that can parry attacks.

Elden Ring players get a guaranteed critical hit on the bosses for every parry, and almost all of its attacks can be parried. You can bait the Knight to use a thrust or slash attack by keeping your distance and using an item.

This essentially means that you have to run away and use a throwing knife before using your ranged weapon or spell to damage the boss.

Should the boss raise its shield, you can rush towards him to bait an attack out, though  this method is considered more dangerous than the parry strategy.
