MCoC recently announced that players can participate in Sagas to earn Runestones, which can now be used to acquire a recently updated Nightcrawler.
Marvel Contest of Champions’ developer, Kabam, recently announced Sagas, which requires that players complete unique objectives to earn Runestones.
Sagas are 3-month long seasons of content that provides a canvas for both multiplayer and solo content.
Saga’s goal is to give players the opportunity to earn rich rewards, including exclusive 7-star Champions and Saga Specific Champion items.
According to the announcement, you have to obtain Runestones in various game modes for the first Saga.
Once you have acquired enough Runestones, you can exchange them for the newly-buffed Nightcrawler. Players who have reached the Valiant or the Paragon rank even have a chance to earn a 7-star Nightcrawler.
Keep in mind, however, that Champions with a Saga tag will be receiving a temporary Attack and Health boost which applies to numerous areas of The Contest.
You can use these Saga Tagged Champions and enjoy MCoC’s game modes to earn Runestones.
Summoners therefore have to progress through Alliance War, Battlegrounds, Raids, Alliance Quests, Incursions and Arenas. Additionally, you can complete Event Quests and Side Quests to earn Runestones.
X-Magica Champions
It is noteworthy that only some Champions will receive the X-Magica Tag, which means that you are limited to the characters that you can use to earn Runestones.
You should therefore use the following Champions:
- Longshot
- The Hood
- Doctor Voodoo
- Mojo
- Symbiote Supreme
- Kushala
- Wiccan
- Sorcerer Supreme
- Dragon Man
- Guillotine (Deathless)
- The Destroyer
- Magik
- Spider-Man (Supreme)
- Werewolf by Night
- Black Widow (Claire Voyant)
- Scarlet Witch (Classic)
- Void
- Colossus
- Domino
- Namor
- Bishop
- Jubilee
- Iceman
- Havok
- Professor X
- Sauron
- Storm (Pyramid X)
- Wolverine (Weapon X)
- Dani Moonstar
- Gambit
Nightcrawler
As previously mentioned, you can use your Runestones to obtain a newly-buffed Nightcrawler. His new kit allows him to juice up his bleed damage with prowess.
If you cannot bleed them, you can throw a Special 3 to Incinerate them instead. Juggling Prowess and Precision will allow you to deal significant amounts of damage.
Keep in mind, however, that a large portion of his damage scales with bleed damage and it will do less damage if the opponent has too much Armor.

X-Magica
X-Magica is the first Saga that MCoC players can enjoy to earn the updated Nightcrawler, but in 3 months’ time, a new Saga and a new pool of Champions will be released.
Allegedly, you will still have to earn Runestones to earn rewards for the next Saga, but this has yet to be released. Kabam will likely release further details about the next Saga in the near future.
